Anyone on the lower end of the GPA scale?? I’m at a 3.05 uc GPA and it feels like I might be the only one.

@UCI6288 don’t lose hope! I was accepted as a criminology major on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Also, in my opinion my GPA wasn’t competitive.

I am currently a straight A student, have gotten all As since returning to school, but have a bad academic history from over 5 years ago going back a ways. I am a sober alcoholic adult, back in school and now doing great ! Now I talked to the UCI rep and she told me to apply this Fall '15. I’m a Psychology transfer using IGETC, and getting an AA or AT they call it. My best option for transfer is UCI for numerous reasons, but my major would by Psychology and Social Behavior. Now like I said I have gotten all As, been essentially the highest grade in every class since I started again as a sober adult. I am in the National Honors Society for Psychology and am also in Phi Theta Kappa, I also do a good amount of volunteer work helping the less fortunate. Now for the not so shining news … my transferable GPA will be a 3.2 so assuming I can do a good job on the personal essays and really show that I have turned over a new leaf … What are my chances of admission to UCI for Psych and Social Behavior … be honest. Thank you !!! Also I’ve been reading these threads and of course wish each of you the best and am crossing my fingers for you as well.
@BackNSchool83 hey I think your chances are good an upward trend is always good. If you could try and boost your gpa in order to meet the tag requirements that would be ideal but still apply for TAG even if it isn’t for UCI! You should go to workshops and make sure in your personal statements you include your life changes. Make sure to get a couple different counselors opinions. Also make sure to pick an alternate major that is easier to get in as. Look into switching majors see if it’s possible and if not just pick an easier, less impacted, alternate major. Best of luck!
What is your major ? You got in with a 2.95 ? My personal statements and essay will be key I think, the UCI rep thought so.
