uci to ucsd

i plan on visiting a friend at UCSD very often, so what is the best way to go, keeping in mind that I don’t have a car?

train and bus

sorry to be a pain, but do you think you could give me a link to the train, and maybe a bus number or something?

You may be able to get rides if you ask around.
If not, use [Welcome To the Orange County Transportation Authority](<a href=“404 - Orange County Transportation Authority”>http://www.octa.net/) for buses from UCI to the train. All the OCTA buses are free; you just swipe your UCI ID card, and at some hours there are direct shuttles between UCI and the Tustin Metrolink Station. [Sustainable Transportation - OCTA](<a href=“UCI Transportation and Distribution Services”>UCI Transportation and Distribution Services)
You take a Metrolink train from the Tustin Station to the Oceanside Transit Center (end of the line) and then take a Coaster train from Oceanside to Sorrento Valley. A Sorrento Valley Coaster Connection bus ($1.00) goes to UCSD.
North County Transit District bus #101 also runs between Oceanside and UCSD. http://transit.511sd.com/Services/Routes/PDFs/NCTD/101.pdf</a>
An alternative is to take an Amtrak train from Santa Ana to Solana Beach and transfer to North County Transit bus #101 ($2.00).
