I’m gunna try to prevent this from being lengthy if possible.

UCI has asked that I take a course in summer school because I was shy one unit. I am chose a three unit course that will satisfy this requirement as well as igetc. The rep said to submit my CC transcripts by September 15, but all others (high school, and one other CC) by July 15th.

My college is offering three sessions this summer. June 10, June 17 and July 15. Each session is 4 weeks in length. I hadn’t intended on taking summer school. I am in a wedding on July 29 and planned a vacation around it. For that reason I want to take the latter session. July 15- Aug15.

I’ve been in contact with the rep from UCI almost daily, but she is very vague in her response. I’ve asked her every which way I could think of in regards to which session i take and still no solid answer.

Most recently I asked if I was to submit my transcripts in September, would it delay my registration for fall. She said “no, it would not. Your admissions could be provisional based until we received proof of your passing grade in that course.”

That seems like it could very much affect my registering for classes…right?

To be safe I think I need to cancel my vacation and figure out the wedding and go to summer school early in order to get all transcripts in sooner than later. Any thoughts? Feck…that was lengthy.

@SoCal: Unless that class is crucial for your major and what not, then maybe you should cancel the vacation. BUT. From what I have heard from people I went to UCSC when I was a freshman and from my twin sis that is at UCSD now, some people are there and they were missing classes too. It was just GE stuff so it didn’t matter as much.
If it’s possible, try for an online class? You wouldn’t have to worry about canceling your vacation. If not, then I would suggest the earliest session just to be safe. It’s best to get things out of the way the earliest possible! Good luck!

I have the perfect solution: Coastline Community College! You can take the class online and take both the midterm and finals online. You can still take that vacation! I’m transferring from Coastline.

I was going to suggest Coastline as well. Not every class allows you to take the midterm and final online, but some do. So pay attention when registering.I have taken 3 classes there over the last 2 semesters and I have either had to schedule them to take at the Fountain Valley campus or the class has an on campus one in like Westminster. It is so worth it though.

So, I’ve been worried. I read somewhere that UCI only has something like 15 spots for students transferring into the Business Administration major. Is that true?? I had no idea it was that bad when I applied, and now I’m terrified :’(

@rickyseg

You go to IVC too?! No way, that’s awesome. They sent me like three letters/emails telling me to go to graduation too, but like you said, it’s CC so I’m kinda “meh” about it

@clamfest, id like to stay ahead considering I want to double major (right now im leaning towards accounting to go with my criminology but psych is a close second) and then two language minors maybe three( japanese german and maybe spanish) but my goal in life is to work for the fbi and they have an age limit at like 30 so i want to get those degrees and start work experience with a police department asap

Hey PSB majors, out of curiosity did you guys take crim classes?!?! I forgot where I read it but it mentioned them and now I’m a bit worried. I looked on assit and it doens’t mention it (at least for my college) but I did read it on the UCI page somewhere and must I say, I’m quite tensed. Once I find it, I’ll post it here no doubt

@Beijing We are in the same boat. I also read that somewhere in here. I hope that’s not the case. huh so nervous ! Damn it why don’t more UC’s have Business Administration for undergrads. Most of us have to go to State schools for this major.

@andreaandrea2 I know, it sucks that we’re so limited on options! I’m not expecting to get into UC Berkeley either, so there goes that. I applied to UCSD and UCSB as an Economics major because it’s the next closest thing, and I got in to those two, but I was really liking the thought of UCI’s Business Admin program until I saw the statistics and lost hope :(

@yazziiie786 it didn’t say that on ASSIST to take a crim class. So I don’t think it’s required for PSB. Maybe after you get admitted. But it should be fine. My college didn’t offer it anyway.

@Beijing Congrats =) I didn’t apply anywhere else besides state schools and UCI (I know UCR has BA but I was not going to apply there). I could’ve applied to economics but i don’t want to do economics cause i definitely don’t see it the same as business administration but it is close i guess. Yeah, i like the thought of UCI’s BA program too! and yeah when i saw the statistics i just crashed …

By the way, I love the UCSD campus, my boyfriend goes there and UCSB, well, ive lived in santa Barbara my whole life so its like meh but it is a nice campus but believe when i say that it will suck to study around there because people are just to rowdy …yes there are parties every weekend.

Thanks for the input guys! I hadn’t even thought about an online class. I’ve never taken one. Brilliant idea, I will definitely be looking into it.
