Hey guys,

I’m an incoming UCI transfer student and I just have a couple questions.

What’s the best way to look for students who are looking for potential roommates? I wanna say Craigslist.com but it’s kinda sketchy.

When I log into UCI, it says my records are put on hold cause I’m a transfer. How do I get rid of that hold?

Thanks

While I’m not a UCI student, I have been to events on the UCI campus many times before as an Irvine resident, and I usually see various fliers up on the walls all over campus from students looking for potential roommates. You could also check out the [UCI Housing’s Facebook page](UCI Housing).

They put a hold on your record until you complete your mandatory academic advising. Once you attend your scheduled session the hold is removed and you can register into classes.

I’m looking for roomates too at UCI. Are you clean?
[University of California Irvine Off Campus Housing Service - Home](http://offcampus.housing.uci.edu/)

Sweet thanks guys.

Berdson: Yea I’m pretty clean. Have you found a room yet?

My standards are pretty low-I meant sober.

Not yet-I’ve grouped around some prospects and I’m not signing a lease till I’ve found some dependable roommates.

Do I seem any less sketchy? The internet is the internet.

As for sobriety, I’m pretty clean. No drugs or alcohol.

How much are you willing to shell out for rent monthly?

First answer my question, Mr. Scottieboii.

I mean I’ve got to know you better than this to consider you.
Tell me a bit about yourself.
1-750 w/utills.

This website has more credibility that Craigslist so I’d hope you’d be less sketchy.

I’m a 20 year old incoming public health science transfer from Palm Springs, CA.

I’m a 18 year old incoming psych/neurobio transfer from the bay area.

Do you really think that’s sufficient info to move in with me for year? If so, you’re raising red flags.

Well what is it exactly that you want to know about me? I’m not about to write an entire autobiography on here

Naw, it’s just you don’t appear to fear the possibility I’m crazy, which makes me think you’re crazy. I’m trying to be careful here-I’ve learned from experience.
Are we gonna be buds or just some dudes who split rent?
First apartment? Hobbies? Future? Looking for a 1 bed/1 bath or bigger? more roommates to pay?
Questions for me?

Haha good point. I kinda figured that since I don’t know anyone at UCI I’d end up rooming with complete strangers anyway so what’s the point of being picky you know. But since you asked I really have no problem getting along with people.

Yes, this is going to be my apartment. Having my own room would be great but if its over my budget ($400-700) I don’t mind sharing rooms.

As for my hobbies, I’m really into water sports and I plan to join crew this year. And I’m minoring in music too.

After college, it’s more school for me in med school.

Now tell me about yourself

So far so good. This looks promising.

Went to community college at 16-skipped 5 grades/took time off. Plan on med school too-why are you? What instrument(s) you play? I’m super big on jamming.

Did you go to orientation yet? Maybe we could meet up then?

That’s sweet dude I plan on going to med school cause it’s what I’ve always wanted to do.

I think the last day of orientation for transfers was yesterday though

naw, I meant that admission counseling thing. what instrument?

I’m scheduled to see a counselor this Monday.

I play the piano. What do you play?

I’m talking about that academic advising thing that puts a hold on your registration. I’m heading down on the 20th.

I major on keys. I plan on bringing a synth, a uke, and 2 electric guitars with me + an amp/phones.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume you’re classically trained.

Yea that’s what I’m talking about. Mines scheduled for this coming Monday

Yeah I’m classically trained but I’ve also played the keys in bands throughout highschool. Dude I play the uke too!
