Hey everyone! I’m a senior in high school in Cali. In my high school career so far I’ve taken a descent amount of AP’s and honors. My mother was battling cancer for about a year and a half from the start of 10th grade through the end of my first semester of my junior year. I was responsible for a lot of the “taking care of stuff” affairs not to mention the emotional toll in took on me as it would for anyone. Anyways my grades werent terrible in 10th but they were my first semester of my junior year. However I ended finishing 11th grade with straight A’s (3 APs) and got a 2210 on the SAT. I also have a decent amount of ECs and stuff. Does anyone here think I have a fair shot at UCLA? I know it would make my mom really proud.

Well, you haven’t really posted enough for anyone here to tell you. GPA? Class rank? What are your EC’s? Etc.

What I can tell you is the average SAT for admitted students last year was 2,026, so in that respect you are above average. Schools like an upward trend in grades which you have displayed, and you have an adequate excuses for your “not terrible” grades. If you don’t feel comfortable posting your other stats you could always compare them here:

If you have around a 4.3 W UC GPA (maybe a little less with your SAT and circumstances), and solid EC’s + essays then I think you have a fair chance.
