does the “.2” increase in GPA for tap students apply for alternate majors as well?

ya most probably.

What is the “.2” increase?

If you’re implying that TAP students are evaluated with an increase in GPA of “.2,” I think you are wrong. I don’t think there is any quantifiable benefits of being in TAP other than being able to apply to an alternative major. Maybe when considered against a non-TAP student with similar stats, there would be a bias on the TAP student but that may even be a stretch.

However, I couldn’t imagine why any benefit of being a tap student would not be looked upon the department making the decision for the alternative major.

well 90% of TAPs make it into UCLA. doesn’t necessarily mean their major of choice, but they get in. alt major has to be un-impacted anyways, so if your prereqs don’t quite match up it’s USUALLY ‘okay,’ so i hear.

the 90% statistic, is that for acceptance into the first major or does that include primary and secondary major?

If the latter is true, what is the statistic for acceptance into primary majors with TAP?

The “.2” remark is somewhat true, but there must be strong ec’s to buffer the gpa gap.

I’m pretty sure the 90% is for acceptance into the school. I think you’d have to scratch pretty hard to find the ‘first major accepted’ stat.
