UCLA Alum, BA History 2012. Ask me anything.

I will do my best to answer your questions!

I have a good friend who graduated in 2012 with a degree in history, I believe he’s now a high school teacher. What are you currently doing?

UC Dreams - My title is “Analyst” in corporate operations for a major film and television entertainment company. My work consists of mainly account management and contract administration for clients that we license our products to.

I’m one of those people who majored in something and ended up working in a field that has nothing to do with their major.

Hi, I’m attending UCLA in the fall and trying to sort out which classes I should be taking. I’m wondering if there were any “easier” GE req classes that you could recommend, or some clusters that were of note.

I can list a handful of classes or professors that you should take for an easy A. I also recommend you use Bruinwalk.com as a way of looking up a professor for yourself to see how they are.

1) Any history class with Teofilo Ruiz. He goes by the name “Teo” and if you ever take his class you’ll understand why. He’s a great professor and the class is ridiculously easy.

2) Art and Architecture 10 with Professor Winter. All I did in that class was watch live performances and videos in class. The midterm and final were a bit difficult in the sense you couldn’t really study for them, but just had to show up to class and remember details. I kid you not, but the exam questions were like, “What is Professor Winter’s favorite color?” or "During Week 1, our guest speaker Bob Jones said a TV show inspired him. What TV show was it?

3) Astronomy 5 with Professor McLean. This is the one class where all the football players are your classmates. Enough said.

Some to avoid are:

1) ANY CLUSTERS. Avoid them. They are wayyy too much work and not worth it. GEs should be used for fun classes that help boost your GPA.

2) Phy Sci 5. Avoid it.
