Hello,
I have read several threads regarding the appeal process at UCLA. i was rejected last friday and would like to try once more to see if i can get in. I am also an internationally ranked competitor and captain of a climbing team. If i wanted to appeal on the basis that i have potential to bring to campus a climbing team, do you think it is reasonable? i additionally planned on reiterating my extra curriculars and test scors in the appeal. Also, is there a separate appeal contact for information regarding athletics? Thanks.
Most appeals are successful with new and compelling information. If you are reiterating information already presented on the application, I do not think it will have any impact. No harm in trying but starting a climbing team is not worthy of an acceptance to UCLA in my opinion.
Unless you have new information, they’re just looking at the same app they already decided to reject. Why would they change their minds?
@bodangles @Gumbymom Thanks for the info. I realize the extremely slim chances and will not repeat information on the appeal, but since the school is my top choice I am going to try anyway.
Gumbymom is right. The appeal is designed for the student with a compelling new consideration, and wanting to start a new club is not likely to make any difference. Read the appeal guidelines and consider what new academic developments you have had since your application was filed.
