I want to go to the open house - I just don’t want to fly from out of state, miss current classes, spend money on flights, hotel, etc. and then get denied!! I had never heard about these open house invites. It came as a surprise and then I read a few posts on here and started to get my hopes up. What major did you apply for? Are you a junior transfer?
@Molliford I applied to architectural studies as a junior transfer. I don’t think I got in though since my portfolio isn’t impressive.
You never know how admissions will view your portfolio. I have sibling who attended UCLA and she said some of her sorority sisters had lame portfolios and they got in! Best of luck - we will know either way in a month I guess…

hi guys - i applied as an art major. any updates on the open house thing? i did not receive an invite and i’m freaking out a tiny bit!! any chance you want to exchange portfolios? i have no idea what a good portfolio looks like. my sister got in a few years ago, but as a photography major so that looks different.
@butternutsquash YESSS!! I have been trying to get people to share portfolios. I can PM you my email and we can exchange. The only thing Is I didn’t apply for art but instead architectural studies but I did include fine art pieces in my portfolio. Don’t worry I haven’t received an invite yet and it seems like only WAC have received them so far.
I heard that admission results for transfers will be released mid April - on or around April 13th. Has anyone else heard a set date for decisions?
@Molliford I heard they’re released towards the end of April. I believe it’s much later than April 13th though, more like around April 25

@iamstillcurious Turns out there was an issue when sending the open house invites and not everyone received them. I think you can call the admission office tomorrow to ask if your portfolio was recommended for admission and if you were supposed to receive an invite to the open house.
I went to the open house on the 13th - they said decisions would be released in a week or two. So, either this week or next we will know for sure…

@iamstillcurious one girl who applied for the art program went on a tour and asked about the open house invites. The person said that they were having issues with people actually receiving the invites and looked up her application to see if her portfolio was recommended for admission since that would mean she should have received an invite. I figured that maybe they would do the same for us and look up our applications but I believe multiple people have tried calling and no one has answered.
