My son got accepted to UCLA arts & architecture and SMFA/Tufts 5 year dual degree program. His main goal was to go to a good arts school that will also provide opportunities to take various academic classes. He is graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan, so he has a good foundation skills in painting, print making, photography and 3D installation.

What are the pros and cons of choosing either choice? I read on the forums that the dropout rate for dual degree program at SMFA/Tufts is high because of logistical problems of scheduling classes and long commute times. Is UCLA art program is as good as art school like SMFA? If not, is it better to take dual degree program, though it is difficult to manage ?
