UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

Have a comforter, and a thin blanket. My roommate who ordered from RHL (which, if I’m remembering, is known as spam and not really affil’d with UCLA, btw) had that and she was fine. I had a thick blanket and a thin comforter. My other roommate had an electric blanket… she was odd.

omg lec 5 for m32a got cancelled. now i have class starting at 8 every day >:O

YES there is heating in summit. i used it.

summit, vista, and terrace have temperature controls in every room.

just finished filling out my efan on myfao. now that i did that do i need to apply for the stafford and private loans with wells fargo (i chose them), or do i need to wait a few days? generally how long does it take for them to contact the fao about my eligibility?

ok so i paid the bill and it says amount due $2,333.33, but the max credit card payment is now 0.

that means im good right? the rest is covered by scholarships (that is what i should receive every quarter)?

I just got an email about Chem 14A having an Honors option. However, if I take it, I’ll have lectures W 4-5pm, and I already have a History discussion section starting at 5pm on the same day. I’m guessing there’s no way I can get across campus in…er…zero time?

Should I just not take honors?

Okay, so I decided to purchase used textbooks from the UCLA store. I want to pick them up rather than have them delivered to me.

Does this mean that I get to look through their selection of used books and choose the ones I want? Or will a stack of textbooks be available for me when I get there?

Honors is good, if you’re planning to go into the honors program. Otherwise, not worth it. If you were, I wouldn’t care too much about arriving to history discussion late, or leaving from chem lecture a little early.

Thanks, MrPink!!

I think you are misinterpreting me, my question was, is there heating in dykstra hall?

No, there is no heating or A/C in the high-rises, not that you could control anyway. But it really isn’t a big deal. Just bring that extra blanket and you’re set.

How much is a planner at the UCLA store?

^It says $6.95 on mine.

ok thanks Pink, just wanted to make sure. An extra blanket it is.

Do people usually bring a laundry hamper or a laundry bag? How does that usually work?

Also, is it a bad idea to bring your own chair in a triple? If you do bring one, what do you do with the wooden one provided?

i see a lot of people with those foldable mesh laundry thingys. some people have a plastic laundry basket. some people have a big canvas/mesh bag. its really up to you.

get the foldable ones. they dont take much space and they’re more fun :)

I prefer a plastic basket, because the ones which fold are fragile and wear out after a year.
