why do girls not like doubles in rieber terrace? there are only 8 male doubles left in rt and like a billion female ones.

just double-checking, but:

regarding GE classes that are applicable in two different categories, we do not need to specify in some way which we want it to apply to right?

Yeah, but most of them get groped. Especially girls. Oh and some of them fart.

Are you a snob or an ass-hole?

All the good looking guys are elsewhere. duh!

Right!

just curious here, but i think i remember hearing that the rooms in the res halls at the end of the hall are a little bit larger, is this true? i’m probably mixing this up with handicap accessible rooms, since i think someone said those were larger than normal as well

I’m at the end for Dykstra. Definitely not true.

Rooms as the end of halls are more likely to be doubles, generally. Handicap rooms are larger then typical rooms, about 125% of the size of a normal room. The increase is to accommodate a larger private (or shared) bathroom.

Does anyone have any info on the “reputable” honor societies here? I looked at Golden Key but like a lot of resources i’ve been coming across lately, everything is just outdated and such. I remember Boelter mentioning it recently, but yeah. Any input appreciated.

kind of related to jolius’ post, are Alpha Lambda Delta & Phi Eta Sigma [ALD & PES] honor societies reputable? if you have at least a 3.5 first quarter of freshman year they invite you, and membership is only if you’re invited. i just have to pay a one time $75 fee and i’m in even if my GPA decreases, haha.

anyone have experience with this? anyone join? is it worth it or is it a waste of money? input appreciated! (deadline to submit money is this friday-- procrastination i know)

thanks!

ALD & PES is not very prestigious in my opinion. Lots of people can get in. Golden Key, on the other hand, is more impressive. You will need at least a 3.6 to be qualified.

Both are rewarding if you get involved in them. They are good network sources and places where you can perform service in. If you don’t get involved, then you are just trading membership fees for entitlement on a resume. I would only consider ALD & PES if you are genuinely going to be involved (meaning holding officer position) or want to meet new people. Otherwise, you’ll just waste your money since it’s not very prestigious in my opinion.

Same story for Mortar Board, which is in between ALD & PES in terms of difficulty to be qualified.

Is there any way one can check the preferences (acceptable sound while studying, sleeping hours) of one’s roommates/suitemates for the 2009/2010 year AFTER one’s own room sign-up?

I don’t think you can … this is why you ask the roomate(s) directly about their preferences before commiting. I am assuming you are trying to fill a partially filled room?

I’m in a single in a plaza, trying to figure out the preferences of my suitemates…

to be honest, the preferences isn’t much of a guideline. who’s gonna mark that they smoke/drink or whatever that was on the app? my roommate tihs year put down “sleeps early”. last quarter he was first to bed, now he’s last to bed at like 4am.

so I haven’t even been admitted yet and I’m still waiting to hear, but I was looking at summer programs for UCLA, and I was wondering when the deadlines are to apply for Travel Study? and also if you can apply before you’re accepted/know where you’re going for college?
this is what I was looking at, and I’m interested in the nyc ones:
[Travel Study Registration](http://www.ieo.ucla.edu/TravelStudy/Register/travel_register.cfm)
thanks to anyone who can explain the process to me!

what’s up with the guy in bruin plaza (by the stage area next to ashe) who seems to be yelling about nonsense? he’s been there all of last week and i saw him again today…

Is it worth joining the National Society of Collegiate Scholars?

i forgot that i was a member of ALD/PES until i saw this. like boelter said, it’s quite rewarding if you get involved…but what isn’t?

that said, as a member, it’s not reputable. i don’t even have it on my resume since i have no involvement whatsoever.

wow for anthro 7 spring quarter we have to buy a “clicker” device to answer quiz questions he puts on powerpoint slides during the lecture

this “clicker” costs $45. screw that.

on the other hand anthro 7 with manson was the easiest A i’ve ever gotten. i took it two years ago. don’t let that deter you.

ya i know i took it last year but dropped since i wanted to focus on other stuff lol, so i’m taking it again this spring
