UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

Do history GEs usually take people off the waitlist? I’m waitlisted for History 9C History of Japan and I don’t know if PTE numbers are likely to be offered or not.

LS2 is currently full, and there are no waiting lists…what are the chances the professors (Simmons/Cooper and Phelan) will give PTE numbers?

^LS2 is unlikely, because it has lab sections which the LS Core Office is very particular about limiting to a set number of students.

Damn. Will many students drop within the first week, though?

OK…

im dying to hear our admissions decisions, does anyone know the exact date or time becuase im sick of hearing “beginning in late march”!!! haha

^ I think it has been confirmed on other posts that is March 19

1) Can you go to a LS 1 demonstration that you’re not enrolled in?

2) What do you do in the demonstrations/would skipping it cause you to miss out on important material?

Same two questions as above for the Physics 1A demonstration. (My physics prof is Gelmini and my LS 1 prof is Halpin).

+++

My LS 1 and Physics 1A demonstrations conflict, and both classes are full, so I can’t change sections. I wasn’t too smart about making sure I didn’t have schedule conflicts. =/

Thanks.

Hello, as the topic says, which computer labs (including the ORL computer labs) are open 24/7? I recall that Rieber was open all the time and that Covel was open until midnight or so.

Powell library is the place to go for a library, what’s the computer lab that everyone goes to when they need computer/internet access?

One more question: Where are your three favorite study places at UCLA other than libraries/officially designated study places? (3 indoors/3 outdoors)

Thank you! =)

Hi, I’m planning on taking LS 2, 3, and 4 in addition to 1. My professor for LS 1 is Halpin, and she doesn’t require the Campbell book. Would it be ok to just buy the Campbell book too?

lol you have to go to demos (part of grade) and they have to be your own for LS1. MAYBE you could arrange something to go to someone else’s demo every week, but i highly doubt it.

i dont know anything about 1A, but i assume its the same.

^^^ you dont want the campbell book for her class. she doesnt test on the regular textbook very much (1 question every test probably). i dont see why you would want the campbell book for that class…info is very basic in LS1. maybe the other LS’s might require it (im not sure), but you definitely dont need to buy it early if you want something extra to study. it will be useless.

HAHA who we talkin about…?

dammit, i’m ****ed. study places should be one of the few things at this university that people should find out on their own. i’m not mentioning which library, but man, compared to this entire period past quarters, the library is freakin packed. time to find another place…

Oh you know who I am talking about!!!
