I can either take italian in royce hall at 9 am or in bunche at 10 am. which lecture should I choose if both fit my schedule?

Is it worth waking up early to take the class at royce or it really doesnt matter?

Also, has anyone taken italian with strom/baranello/van ness?

thanks a lot

yes. when you turn in your test, they look at your ID.

you don’t need to know sheeeeeeeit. just listen in class.

I’m just curious…why are some classes restricted to non-English majors? And if I ever do decide to major in English later on, will it affect my chances of getting into the major if I did take a course that was restricted to just non-English majors?

Is it better to have discussion on tuesday or thursday? Does it make a difference?
(for math/chem)

Math 31a

I have Math 31a this fall with Brown.

And yes, I chose him due to Bruinwalk - mainly because I heard he was a “kind, old man” who try to help you in office hours.

Honestly, I only took pre-calc senior year (AP stats instead) and slept through the class. The teacher really didn’t care, once he found I got into UCLA he basically let me slide… as long as I turned in copied problems from the back of the book and got c’s on tests, I would get an A, which I did. I really don’t know ****. I rely on my TI84 for everything. I couldn’t tell you a sin, cos, or tan wave without graphing it. I don’t know my unit circle anymore. I don’t know what a period is.

Has anyone had any experiences with Brown or has anyone been in my position - basically very little prep for Calc?

Also, for the text, Rogawski Single Variable Calculus (2nd printing) - does that just mean it’s a newer version, as in they re-did the artwork on the cover or something (or changed it from hard to soft) - but everything inside is word-for-word the same?

Thanks!

looks like you have a little studying to do this summer blinks

While we’re on the topic of Calculus, are ti-89s allowed? I’ve seen one recently and it solved the whole problem :open_mouth: I was amazed haha.

i don’t think you need a calculator for any of the math classes… at least not the 31, 32, 33 series

Depends on the professor. I was able to use my TI-89 on exams in 33A. They help with homework, too.

I’m browsing through the schedule of classes now, and I’m just wondering: why are many of the classes for winter and spring quarters filling up with students already?

because you are looking at winter and spring 09, which have already passed if you haven’t realized…

Oh, yeah. Thanks for clarifying that. I feel like an idiot for even asking that now.

How is J. Nagy’s fiat lux class “Cartoons, Folklore and Myth”? What did you do in the class/what were the assignments like, etc.?

i want to get parking for fall but the deadline has passed. im a regents scholar, so i would have definitely gotten it had i looked into it earlier. i can still send an appeal, however. should i…

1) lie and say i already applied but was denied for some reason even tho im regents
or
2) just fill out an appeal and say im regents

in the appeal it says you need crazy compelling reasons to get parking. i doubt i would make the cut. im leaning toward #1…

wouldn’t they have that shiet on file? I doubt you can just lie, but what do i know. just lie and say that your old man is dying

Those rooms in Rieber Terrace have little metal attachments on the top drawer of the desk that allows people to lock the drawer. I’m wondering if all desks, or more specifically the ones in Sunset Village, have this also.

Does the UC Application come out in November? And is the deadline Nov. 30?

i think sooo

I think it comes out Oct 1

It comes out Oct 1 when you can first edit it, you can first submit it Nov 1.
