UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

dont buy protein from hilltop lol. they overprice everything.

theres a gnc right off campus. i remember seeing it.

yea the GNC is in westwood, almost 2 blocks from the medical center

does wooden have free creatine/multivitamins by chance?

Not free, but probably sell it.

does anyone have orientation fees on their bar? or some other account?

I was just wondering what i have to do with waitlists?
I emailed the professor asking him if he will utilize it, and he said that if people drop(which he said there will be) he will take people off the waitlist. This is for math 3a.
I am currently enrolled in math 31a as well just in case i don’t get off the waitlist for 3a.
Should i attend the math 3a lecture while i am on the waitlist?

Can someone please tell me what to do when i am on the waitlist of a class. thanks!

Yes, attend the lecture. If you do end up being able to enroll, you don’t want to have missed out on lectures. Go up to the professor before and/or after the first class to inquire about wait lists. Whether they decide take people from the wait list on top of all the enrolled students is up to them, room capacity permitting.

If they won’t take additional students beyond the limit, then all you can do is wait for people to drop out of your discussion section. Also, keep an eye out on the registrar site for possible openings in other discussion sections.

Usually in the large classes there are a handful or two of people that drop in the first couple weeks.

where did you guys get the idea that the gym magically hands out free stuff?

is the greek rush week the first week of school

can someone clarify this with me, i have yahoo dsl, a linksys router, and a yahoo modem, i just need to bring the linksys router right?

and if your roommate has one, you can share the connection with them right?

thanks

Yes to both questions, but you may consider buying a new router, especially if you still have multiple computers at home. If you take the router with you, those computers won’t be able to share an internet connection anymore.

If you’re in a double, you don’t even need the router. Each room has two ethernet ports. If you’re in a triple, then yeah bring the router.

Heres a silly question:

Since classes start on a Thursday, and one’s particular schedule has discussions on Thursdays, would anything constructive be done by attending the first day of school?

I was wondering the same thing as well

if it’s a discussion, it might be canceled just for that day i think

Stuff still happens in first day discussions, such as review of prerec classes etc.

I’ve always found that discussions during zero week or otherwise before the first actual lecture have been cancelled, either formally (TA sends out an e-mail) or informally (TA just never shows up :D). I wouldn’t bother going.

I have Math 31a w/ Brown.

I took AP Stats, not calc, got a 5.
Took precalc senior year, selpt through it and got an A (ridiculous curve)

What should I know beforehand?

Unit Circle, Trig identities, etc…

unit circle and trig probably won’t help you that much for 31a, if you have the book just flip through the first chapter or 2, learn the easy way to differentiate and you should be fine, the concept isn’t hard, but keep in mind most people thats taking 31a probably done calc before and just retaking it :(

How do I wave my student health plan? (SHIP?)
