If I don’t want to waive SHIP, do I have to do anything? Or is it only is you want to waive it?

No, you automatically pay for SHIP when you pay for tuition, fees, etc. Nothing needs to be done.

Thanks, friend.

Anyone know what book Ravetch uses for 1B? Nothing’s showing up on the online bookstore.

^same as for 1A, financial and managerial accounting: information for decisions by wild, shaw, chiappetta
you can get away with just getting the (much cheaper) 2nd ed since he provides book questions, etc. for both the 2nd and 3rd editions

What and how am I supposed to study to place into Spanish 4? I’ve taken up to Spanish 3 in school and that was about 2 years ago. How is the test formatted?

The UCLA Healthcare PLAN (SHIP) waiver asks for a hospital within 25 miles of UCLA so “where you can receive full care with your insurance”

I have no idea, Im pretty sure my insurance is accepted in all hospitals. Can I assume UCLA’s Ronald Reagen med center would work? Is that a hospital?

Yes it’s a hospital. Call your insurance company and ask them if it’s covered.

after i waive SHIP, how long does it take to show the changes on my BAR account?

I owe about $3,000 for my fall education fees right now. I got a ~$11,000 scholarship recognition award from LA, and I’m wondering if that can go towards the $3,000 on my BAR. If it can, does anyone know how to do that? Do I even have to do anything? I just paid my first monthly housing payment and it would lift a huge load off my (and my parents’) shoulders if the scholarship could cover the $3,000 on my BAR.

Hm it should be immediate. At least it was for me.

^ really?? it’s been 3 days and the changes hasnt shown up yet…

should i be worried?

it takes 3-4 days according to the website.

That’s what I’d really like to know too, oyster. I took spanish 4 but it was honors at my high school. I emailed the spanish department about the test but haven’t gotten a response yet.

How does Open Transfer night work? Will we have to already have someone we want to trade dorms with or will we have an opportunity to find people who would be willing to swap?

@Gotlactose

I have notes from my Spanish 2 and 3 courses, but they kind of have doodles and anime/manga/video game character drawings all over them. Very distracting ):

I guess I can brush up on my preterites/imperfects/subjunctives/whatever else I was supposed to have learned, but there’s also the fact that I don’t know much Spanish vocabulary. My teacher… never tested us on vocab.

You probably have tried searching for practice exams too. I can’t find anything to give me hints on what to study, and at orientation my OC said that the FL department might get rid of the FL requirement. I’ll… try sending an email too. Keep me updated, Gotlactose! (:

ETA: I actually won’t mind if I had to take Spanish 3 again. It would be a pain in the neck, but I’d just like to know what to study for the placement exam. If I don’t review the right stuff, I’ll probably get kicked down to Span 1 :D

Hey, one of my teachers recommended we get a book, but it’s not required. Should I get it? Yes, no, maybe-so? This is for an upper-division history class. It already has three required texts.

^ Yeah I have the same question. Should we only get required textbooks or should get the optional books as well?

How can we find out how many swipes we have left for the week?
