where do you put a microwave in your dorm room?

do you need to hide it after each use to prevent RAs or whatever from seeing it?

Is it a good thing to bring, or should i ditch it?

I’m also thinking about bringing a mini fridge, does that sound like a good idea if you are staying for a year in the dorms?

Hi, I haven’t made a payment and when I got to URSA it tells me that I am not eligible for student services, I plan on paying the full amount by tomorrow, but

did they drop all my classes i previously registered for?

will I even be able to attend this Fall?

am I dropped from the school?

will this affect me in any other way?

please help, thanks in advance

I think you should bring all of that if you don’t, you can borrow one from them, but it is expensive, i forgot how much.

Overall I’d say a mini fridge is more useful than a microwave. I lived in the dorms for two years and the only thing I ever microwaved was popcorn, and there’s always a microwave on the first floor of the residence halls that you can use. If you want an individual microwave (not a microfridge thing) you do have to hide it, but it’s not that big a deal: just throw a towel over it when the RAs do inspections, they’re not really allowed to touch your stuff. I don’t think you really need one, though… if you’re going to spring for something, get a mini fridge so you can have cold drinks.

Is there any way to set up automatic housing payments every month?

@Raychul07: Don’t you ever want to drink something warm? I know I’ll want hot water for tea and ramen in the room, but I still have to talk to my roommates about renting the microfridge. And you say there’s a microwave on the first floor of every res hall, that’s only for the halls, not for the plazas right?

There are microwaves in plazas as well, at least in De Neve and Rieber Terrace

They were near the washing machines

polaricechick, i don’t think theres any automatic housing payments options, i just set an alarm in my entourage/outlook at the 18th and 28th of each month to remind me… i guess its good bill paying practice? :D

Gotlactose, just bring one if you drink hotwater/ramen a lot, or you can bring an water boiler… i rented a microfridge my first year and thought it was a stupid waste of money as we just bought a mini fridge 2nd year instead which is like half the rental price… theres plenty of people on the floor with microwaves so i never bothered to get one… although i did set my ramen on fire once in the microwave as it had aluminum cover on the back side… dumb dumb idea lol

If i sent in my bruindirect void check/form about a week ago, is it too late? Should I call financial aid office & ask if they received it?

For anybody that brought a water filter to their dorms, was it really helpful, or did you you barely get a chance to use it?

I personally used my water filter every day…really just depends on how much water you drink.

And thanks, kick53rv3! That’s what I’ve been doing for a year, too, but my parents wanted to know.

did you use the brita water dispenser? is that a good filter to use?

I used a Brita.

i had a brita but ended up just buying water bottles from costco/ralphs since it didn’t fit in my minifridge :(

polaricechick, MrSpam, or whomever, did you fill it from the tap in the bathroom, or are there any other accessible taps around the dorms?

I used either the bathroom sink or the shower if I was in a hurry.

Yeah, same. Brita or Pur, I forget, and the bathroom sink.

How do corequisites work? On the registrar’s website, it says the two courses must be taken together, but what if one class gets full? I want to finish my writing I winter quarter, but then I can only sign up for one more class. How can get I get a class in chem 20B and chem 20L if one of the happens to be full? Or there are enough spaces to ensure I’d get one by the second pass?
