***UCLA CLASS OF 2019 APPLICANT DISCUSSION THREAD***

wait list? 3.9 (uw) GPA , ACT 35, disappointed ! If so, I believe UCLA and Berkeley will be the same!! :((

I was wait listed at UCSD, I have no hope for Cal/UCLA now

does UCLA have an appeal process? I am getting really nervous and thinking about sending a letter expressing my interest and what I’ve done since applying… is it too late and not worth it?

@mlegoldstein : From whatever little I know about UC admissions, there is always hope. I just met someone who got into UCB and was waitlisted in UCD.

@parentnil95‌ yea one of my friends at Cal got rejected from UCLA and SD last year, so anything COULD happen

I just got the Engineering Open House Invitation :DD
Does this mean I’m definitely in?

Like the one that starts out with:
“The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of an important event for applicants interested in learning more about the wonderful educational experience the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS) and UCLA have to offer…”
From what i have seen in previous threads its a likely

Just got my UCLA likely!!!

Are you sure that’s a likely?
I got it too

I got the email as well! Sounds like it must be the likely letter, I doubt they would invite you to go to the open house after you get rejected LOL.

got my likely letter!!! chemical engineering, 800 chem 800 math lvl2, 2160 sat, 4.50 weighted:
"The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of an important event for applicants interested in learning more about the wonderful educational experience the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS) and UCLA have to offer.

We have received your application to UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science and I want to commend you on your fine work in high school. Admission decisions have not been finalized or announced, however in late March you may check the UCLA Undergraduate Admissions website www.admission.ucla.edu/myApplication for final decisions. You will receive an email from Undergraduate Admissions when Decisions are available online.

I cordially invite you and your family to save the date for the 2015 UCLA Engineering Open House, on Sunday, April 12. Our Open House agenda is designed to provide valuable information about HSSEAS and to answer any questions you may have about being a Bruin Engineer. Learn about the School as Dean Dhir and the Department chairs introduce our academic programs at the 9:00 a.m. General Session in Pauley Pavilion. Then immerse yourself in department-specific sessions that showcase their unique strengths and opportunities in academics and research. Enjoy lunch while informally meeting the world-class engineering students, faculty, alumni, academic counselors, and staff in your department and discover firsthand the community you will join at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science."

@Dhruv97‌ Wow thanks! I’d been clueless, and I got in too! Although LA and Berkeley have my heart

i got the regents invitation, but no likely; any clue to what this means?

I just got the Engineering Openhouse Invitation. Is it likely letter?

Are the likely letters only for engineering applicants? I applied as a biochemistry major.

Yes, only the school of engineering sends out these likely letters. However, it does NOT mean you were rejected if you did not receive one.

is anyone 100% sure that this is a likely letter? I just got it too but the wording is so vague, I don’t want to mistake it for an indication of acceptance it if really isn’t. Just that one sentence with “I want to commend you on your fine work” sounds like it could imply something, but its not nearly as direct as any of the other likely letters i’ve gotten (haha i’m just really paranoid).

Can you please tell us the “likely letter” dated which day and which state you guys are located? Thanks

Being paranoid is perfectly understandable. This letter has had it’s wording changed from the ones they’ve sent in the past. But if you do a search on Google, everyone who has received this likely letter has eventually been accepted. They are being vague because “admissions decisions have not yet been finalized or announced” (as the letter/e-mail states). Don’t worry, though. The official decisions will be out next Friday, March 20th. It does mean you’ve been accepted, but if you choose to be paranoid, you can consider it a VERY good sign that you’ve been accepted (after all, why invite someone to an open house on date after admissions decisions come out if you might actually be rejected?)

@studycollege I got mine on March 15th and live in California. Keep in mind anywhere from 60-75% of those eventually accepted may not receive one of these letters.

thanks @bebere!
@studycollege i got mine 6:30 pm today and i’m in SoCal
