***UCLA CLASS OF 2019 APPLICANT DISCUSSION THREAD***

@themagicalwizard‌ I also got the alumni email (but I think it may be because my parents are alums, not because I’m likely to get admitted… lol). I’m not sure about the likelihood of admission from that one.
The open house email is specifically for engineering majors; UCLA sends them every year. Rumor has it that if you’ve received one, there’s like a 99.9% chance that you’re admitted.

Oh!! It’s a good thing I am not majoring in Engineering (; @imthereal‌ we’re you majoring in Engineering?
I, like so many others probably, is super super excited for admissions and I wish it was Friday already :frowning:

@themagicalwizard‌ Yup, ChemE first choice, Aerospace second choice. Thankfully, UCLA isn’t my top choice; it just sucks a little because I think my parents expected me/really wanted me to get in. I cannot lose hope though, haha. Good luck on Friday :slight_smile:

So if an engineering major doesn’t receive the open house email, does that mean he’s rejected?

I saw this cool UCLA video today. Thought I would share:

@Digitallyshrewd‌ I really hope not… if I don’t get in, I may be rekt by parents. Does anyone have info on acceptances for those with no open house email?

@imthereal‌ http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/1750784-engineering-likely-letter-class-of-2019-p1.html

@imthereal‌ @Digitallyshrewd‌ from what I’ve read, the letter goes to the top 25-40% of engineering admits, so that means 60-75% of admits don’t get one. Don’t worry! :slight_smile:

@appleface47‌ Thanks for the info! My stats are somewhat borderline, so hoping for the best haha :slight_smile:

@appleface47‌ thank you so much, hoping for the best. It’s my dream to go to UCLA.

@imthereal‌ @Digitallyshrewd‌ good luck! :slight_smile:

@appleface47 did you get the open house letter? And thank you :slight_smile:

@Digitallyshrewd‌ yes! :slight_smile: Very surprised actually, the average Computer Science and Engineering admit has an SAT of 2280 ish, and I have a 2080 lol. I guess they really do look at applicants holistically!

@appleface47 that’s amazing, congratulations! I just hope my application is good enough for them!

@appleface47‌ I guess so! Nice job, man :slight_smile:

@Digitallyshrewd‌ Same! Good luck to you, m8,

Do I still stand a chance at UCLA in your guys’ opinions? I got rejected to Davis, but accepted to UCSD in my first choice college and in CHP at UC Irvine. I’m worried that I won’t be accepted, and it’s really crushing my spirits.

I had a 2110 SAT, 34 ACT, 760 Math II, and 790 Physics. I’m really discouraged, and by the looks of who has gotten likely letters, I’m not sure how to feel. Some have similar stats, others have much better stats.

I think you have a chance but through everything I have heard, decisions at UCLA can be completely random where someone with lower scores than you get in while you do not.
I received the engineering likely letter, these are my stats, still skeptical about it meaning that I got in.
ACT 31
GPA Unweighted~3.96 UC~4.33 Weighted~4.75
I do a lot of extracurriculars including leadership
Major: Computer Science

Got into UCR with Chancellor’s, UCSD with Computer Science.
Still waiting to hear from UCLA, UCI, and UCB
@adidinescu

Guys and Girls,
Belated congratulations to all of your acceptances and hope they continue.

I was just wondering if the SAT scores in Chance Me sections are all single Score?
Do UCs single score the SAT even though we send them all of our scores?

@adidinescu‌ don’t fret too much. Your stats are more than qualified and I’m sure you have a great chance so don’t give up hope just yet! Based on what people are saying, 60% are still waiting

@desperado3223‌ all those scores should be from a single sitting. The UCs don’t superscore anything unlike the privates

@yellowmamba45‌ thank you, I appreciate it, but its hard not to think about it. It’s going to be a long week leading up to Friday.
