@UCLA1997 Yup, I’m pretty sure those general emails were received by everyone. I would still jump every time I got one though. UCLA hasn’t sent me mail in awhile… outside of the one scholarship invite. Agreed, I’m excited for Friday. The nervousness hasn’t quite settled in yet but then again I do fend it off until decision day.
The best of luck to you.
@SDcard I don’t believe they admit people to impacted majors in the College. For example, if you want to major in Business Economics, they would admit you as a Pre-Business Economics major. So you still have to meet the major requirements after enrolling at UCLA, which can take a year or two.
We are not in state residents. One of the reasons my daughter applied 2 UC’s is nice weather there. She is in Wash U wait list and automatic accepted by UT but rejected by honor program. We were told we have less chance to get good financial aid because she is out of state applicant in CA. We can barely afford out of state or private schools in full cost. It’s going to be a tough decision.
Talking to you guys really helps my anxiety bc most of my friends are going to community college and didn’t apply anywhere, so I have no one to freak out with lol
@mlegoldstein haha I feel the same way!! It’s comforting to know I’m not alone
Good luck to all the UCLA applicants. I know how hard my kiddo and his friends have worked these last few years and I have incredible respect for them and for you! I can not imagine having taken so many APs, getting such high test scores and GPA - plus all the other outside stuff you guys do. You’re remarkable - accepted or not.
The engineering open house is considered a “likely letter”. If you click on the link within the email, it takes you to a site that is a “save the date” site. It says that the open house is invite only and it goes out to top applicants. The date of this event is in the future, after decisions go out. So this implies that you are in fact a top applicant and invited to save the date. They send this out prior to all other UC decisions to a select group so that they know they are getting into the engineering school at ucla and won’t accept any other offers. If you got the letter, YOU’RE IN:))
Wow this is so crazy! Just a few more days. I think this thread has been making me more nervous and confused than anything haha. I’ve read like 20 identical applications about people writing about cancer, deaths, or saving lives and being in a million clubs and having perfect test scores and grades yet still being denied from UCSB, UCD, and UCSD. It’s confusing because my friends who have taken maybe 1 AP class and have much lower test scores and maybe one or two extracurriculars are getting into these colleges. It’s kind of a splash of water to the face how some of this can be just luck! It kind of worries me for UCLA Friday.
Fingers crossed, everyone! We’ll make it, and we’re amazing just having applied to a great school like UCLA - heads up!
I am such a nervous wreck right now. I feel like I’m gonna barf. Gah I just want to know!
I should really be studying for physics right now…
Frustrated dad - we’re in the same position. My D got into UCSD earlier this week and although they offered her a scholarship that covers 100% of her in-state fees, that still leaves about $25K for the OOS supplement. Conversely, she Michigan and UVA gave her 100% scholarships, that cover everything. She’s also got some great FA from private universities. I suspect we are going to have to pass on the UCs. Sad.
My D received an invite for the Stamps Scholarship, identifying that she was a top applicant. Is this sent to a large number of applicants or is it a likely? Very nervous about decision day
What exactly did @StevenToCollege say? I think he/she might’ve edited the comment.
All these scholarships and open house invites are making me really doubt that I’ll get accepted… RIP LOL
Oh well, haha. Good luck to everyone!!!
@collegeplease123 Maybe you should DM him if you want to know! I don’t think anyone wants to rehash that.
@collegeplease123, from his last post I see no indication of editing, I think his remarks were just interpreted as unnecessarily “braggy” by many.
Ah, now I see it. Well, the Internet can be harsh sometimes… lol
Also, I’m just browsing this thread because I have nothing better to do right now… I regret not applying to UCLA
I haven’t gotten any emails from UCLA in a while… :-SS I wasn’t invited to apply for the Alumni Scholarship for UCLA, but I was invited to apply for it for Berkeley. I know that they view applicants differently and getting the email means nothing, but I found it strange because I feel as though I’m a better fit for UCLA rather than Berkeley.
