do oos guys get supplementals too?
@KDurham I can’t really answer that for any one school but I’ve seen that situation work out really well for many other students in a numerous amount of institutions. I was on a tour with a current student at UCLA a year or two prior, and she vaguely expressed that her test scores (I’m not sure if she threw GPA in the mix) were below standards. She said that she felt that her EC’s were what got her in. I think her EC’s correlated with her interests though (current Poly Sci major though I’m not sure if that’s what she got in as)… It’s hard to say but it’s definitely not impossible or anything.
Best of luck to you.
@eo2019 well in my second essay I compared how I first found out about my movement disorder while running a mile in 3rd with the sensations I felt after I finished the LA marathon 2 years ago. I elaborated on how I was in a wheelchair for a year and then I had deep brain surgery to help correct my disorder that causes the muscles in my legs to twist and contort. In the supplement I just talked about how my disorder comes back when I am under stress and how training for a marathon caused me to get too stressed out Sophomore year which is why my grades were so sub-par.
lol I feel as if my stats are bad compared to what is on CC.
27 ACT (in my defense, the average at my school is a 15)
3.76 UW, 4.0 W
My supplement essay was really personal and explained somethings that happened earlier in high school (look at my chance me thread to see what I mean).
I have a few very meaningful extracurricular like everyone else here lol and a 1000+ volunteer hours.
@ElPsyCongroo yessss, I did. What do you plan on majoring in?
my stats are:
31 ACT
2040 SAT
3.6 UW/4.2 W
over 400 hours of community service and 66 units at a community college.
Oh, and I want to major in Biology!
2150 SAT
3.96 UW, 4.36 W
4 yr varsity swimming, 4 yr CSF, swim captain, sr. class secretary/leadership, summer abroad in Nicaragua…
History Major
No supplemental… worried about what side I’m on
i’m oos, but from my school they seem to value applicants with good extracurriculars/essays… i know a few people who’ve gotten in with “okay” stats. if you’re at a good school and taking a challenging course load, things definitely aren’t over for you. UCLA is one of the few big schools that i truly believe has a holistic process. if it was just based on numbers i know a lot of people who wouldn’t have been accepted.
Planned major is Bio.
Alter is “Microbio, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics (Pre)”, which sounds more awesome to be honest.
Seriously, the depth of bio stuff at UC is epic. My UCSD major of choice was “Biology w/ specialization in Bioinformatics”. Berkeley had so much that I chose “Undelared/Biological Sciences”
I’m nervous… for my supplement I wrote about tennis and its effect on me and something about my family and their support for my other essay. It seems like everybody wrote about things a bit more serious. Nonetheless, I hope everybody gets in! For my grades senior year I had a 3.85 UW and 4.67 W with 5 (6 with the alternating schedule of AP Gov’t/Econ) AP classes and elective.
sat score?
I just don’t feel safe about UCLA and UC B because too many applicants this year, we are out of CA, so the hope is minimum, two more days!!! Accepted by UCSD and UC Davis(with scholarship)
@Jalaquan okay! Still better than mine, and ikr? And what chance me thread? Can you link it?
@mlegoldstein that’s good!
@studycollege my d’s SAT were low 1600, so she opted for the ACT instead and did better on it.
@ElPsyCongroo at first I thought psychology was your major because of your name lol! But that’s good, I wonder why everyone wants to major in bio overall?
@cly0824 I’m just as nervous as you are my friend. I really hope we all get in with or without the supplemental & great GPA what about your major?
Wow I am getting really nervous with others not getting into some other UC’s with solid stats
How would an ACT of 32 do?? And what are some other scores out there??
@eo2019 If you want to find something to take your mind off of waiting, look up “Steins;Gate” on YouTube or some other video site. It is a 24 episode Japanese TV Drama that has to do with college guys exploring the nature of Time Travel (and the consequences). Quite fun. Then you’ll know the true meaning behind “El Psy Congroo”.
