***UCLA CLASS OF 2019 APPLICANT DISCUSSION THREAD***

I’m gonna stuff myself full of junk food if I don’t get in. Idc

Anyone else from LA? I would rather go up to Berk because I’d rather not stay this close to home, but if I don’t get into Berk, UCLA is just too great of an opportunity to pass up.

@eo2019 I barely saw this but yeah my stats were pretty low and I got the supplements for both UCLA and Berkeley. I’m black if it makes a difference and I think my UC gpa was 3.63, my SAT was only 1700, then my ACT was 26

Hope we all become Bruins!! Its tommorow, good luck everyone ^^/

@mlegoldstein‌ Same. I basically grew up at the Rose Bowl. I love UCLA and Los Angeles, but kinda want to experience a different place for college. Literally all my family is in LA so I can always come back.

Ok - so for you - why UCLA specifically??

@patertrium‌ is that a question for all of us?

@JoeGoe‌ exactly, except I grew up at the Coliseum bc my dad went to USC. literally all my grandparents, aunts, uncles, everyone lives in LA, and I want to get away from here so badly

@imjennah‌ Yes - open question for all. We’re having to decide on a few UC’s and I wanted to hear from this group of hopefuls. Hey - it’s something to do while you wait for the big results.

Whichever college you guys end up in is all in God’s plan, don’t worry!!!

For me, I didn’t know how much I liked UCLA until I visited over my fall break. I’ve applied to mostly urban schools (only 2 of the 7 I’ve applied to are in small towns), and I didn’t realize that UCLA had the feel I was looking for until I experienced it for myself.

UCLA is such a beautiful school in the best location in LA. NYU and UCLA have my vote for best urban campus settings

Can’t believe we find out tomorrow

@patertrium‌ Im pretty sure most of you have experienced this, but do you know that feeling when you step on a University campus and you feel ‘This is it, I can see myself here’…that is what I felt when I stepped on the campus of UCLA. I returned there multiple times and spoke with multiple organizations and the admissions staff and people in my major…just hung out around campus and in libraries some days. When I needed to get away and destress I would go to either UCLA or UCI. It just still amazes me how everyone you meet is doing something important and is successful, it gives off a very inspiring atmosphere. That is why I chose UCLA, hopefully, they choose me as well.

On the small chance that I actually get in… wow

@keyshawnford92‌ at least you got both! you’re lucky. And yeah, I mean idk if race has to do with it, could be who knows? Like myself, I’m first generation nigerian american but its mainly my stats cause they’re low too.

@JHuff11‌ that is so true, whatever God has planned for us I shouldn’t worry.

If we all get in, I highly encourage you to visit campus! Even though I love it doesnt mean others will.

@patertrium‌ I specifically want to get into UCLA because I want to experience a new place away from home. I want to meet more people like me considering the fact that where I come from in California not that many Nigerians reside here. Learn more of my culture too since they embrace it so much in Los Angeles compared to here. Also, great academics is a plus and even start a new social life by joining a sorority. Oh and San Diego is too much because everyone knows everyone and it’s annoying & everyone swears they’re related to someone famous ugh.

@patertrium‌ yeah like @imjennah‌ said, I seriously see myself at UCLA compared to all the other uc’s. Its like L.A. is calling my name! Berekely was nice, I would love to get in but I thought about it and I can’t see myself there compared to UCLA.
