Hello
Who told you that we are in low income. There was written that 4 applications are free. If our income is recognized as higher later , we will have to pay.( i thought California residents are free ) .
And my son got in usc EA. But we have to pay higher tuition than we thought so we turned to uc schools. You don’t know about financial then please , stay silent from me?
I never am stressful and never said that.
I enjoy this journey but i asked about CS field because i don’t know well.

I guess you think i am bragging so u may be …

CA residents can get fee waivers (meaning lower income) to apply to 4 UC campuses for free. If you do not qualify for the fee waiver, then as a CA resident you have to pay all application fees. I am just giving you the information and in no way insinuating anything about your financial situation.

Yes. I know so we have to pay if they request it.

You pay at time of application and if you were able to apply to 4 UC campuses with a few waiver, then you qualified.

What is your source?

No, as others have said, you have to pay at the time of application, UNLESS you are low income. That is why there was an assumption about your income level.

Although technically, how do they even check? It’s a self reporting check box.

I don’t know that they do check, although if you filed a FAFSA they obviously could quite easily.

Ethics is about doing the right thing whether anyone’s going to check or not.

But it is possible the poster does have a qualifying income for the waiver. We don’t know and it’s obviously none of our business. But there was a reason that the assumption was made, so their reaction was a bit out of proportion, imo.

Nevertheless, now that all of this has been established, probably best we all move on…

It’s self-reported. They can check with school counselor if needed. If student self-reported false information, acceptance could be rescinded!

@Jayku, you stated you’re not low-income, why you advised your student to get fee waiver if he’s not eligible? I couldn’t believe it! So wrong!

is the ucla admissions portal down for anyone else?

What I gathered from their post was that they didn’t want to discuss their income. It’s none of our business to discuss, unless they need our advice related to school affordability (or consequences of filling out the fee waiver stuff). They aren’t asking for our advice.

Does anyone know what time they’re dropping?
