UCLA Class of 2028 Official Thread

AC isn’t needed. Tbh unless there’s a heat wave I never even used my desk fan when I lived in a classic triple my freshman year.

CA CC classes transfer over for GE credit but will not count towards the GPA. My advice is hold off on CC classes prior to school as you’ll want the gpa boost at ucla by taking GEs.

Hey everyone! Question, is anyone else missing their Bruin Success Scholarship in their FAN that was sent out today? In my provisional aid letter that I got right after my acceptance, it said that I would be receiving it, but I don’t see it anywhere in the FAN. Anyone else?

Good grief. Hedrick is a blast. Don’t let anyone here scare you. My D22 lived there her freshman year and she loved it. She had a super social floor, met tons of friends, and loved the Study right downstairs.

The AC issue isn’t a big deal. It’s CA. It cools down in the evenings. Get a fan. Maybe you will be uncomfortable for 2-3 days during a heat wave. And you will get used to walking up hills.

She lived in Rieber Terrace this past year and liked it too. It was larger, had AC and a private bath. But it was so quiet. Older students with established friend groups. She was fine with it too, since she had made her friends last year, but if you’re new to campus, be happy you got Hedrick. You will meet so many new friends.

Anyone from orientation session 101 have thoughts to share, things that you wish you had known ahead of time, or anything along those lines?

Yeah, we got an email about " UNIVERSITY STUDIES 10A" course. When is the best time to take it? This summer or fall?

Got housing update email yesterday, finally signed Rieber Vista Single dorm with AC, we’re thrilled! He thought it’s impossible, nothing is impossible with persistent attempts.

For early graduation, we did more research, it’s very doable to graduate within three years, take four courses per quarter, take all GEs at CC in summer break, take online class during summer session…

OOS students pay in state tuition for summer school at the UCs.

Spacing out your GEs and taking one GE per quarter can help balance out a rigorous course load. I would look for stand alone major related courses that aren’t pre-reqs for other courses and see if they are offered over the summer.

Yes, we know. He should be allowed to take 2 or 3 summer courses, plus 2 GEs at CC.

Thanks for your hints .

Nobody tried to scare people, all is personal experience/preference. Everyone should have independent thinking and he/she is the one to make decision based on individual circumstances. No doubt that Hedrick may provide super social experience, but it is the most far residential building, therefore most of freshman live there.

Wow- how did you get a single room?

I received De Neve Plaza housing assignment for deluxe private bath triple, so if anyone has sproul and wants to do a mutual swap, please let me know lol! I’m trying to room with my friends in sproul hall classic triple
