Do us international eng people still have a chance? All fo the eng waves have been in state and none for intl yet.

Until they close the waitlist, then you still have a chance.

My son got off the waitlist this morning for Computer Science! We are in state. He received an email notification. I couldn’t believe it! He had already committed to UC Santa Cruz but will withdraw from there to commit here. This has been his school choice since his older brother is an alum (graduated just last year) and he hang around there a lot, and even ate at the dining halls. He wrote an impassioned plea in his letter of intent and I guess it worked.
This has been a stressful college decision journey and I’m glad it worked out. He is the #1 in his school for GPA and initially got accepted only to UCSC, UCR, UCSB (they put him under Undeclared instead of CS!), waitlisted at UCLA, UCSD, UCD, and rejected from Berkeley and UCI. The rest of the school top 10 students got into Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, USC, Stanford so it was really puzzling that he didn’t get into the top tier. It’s probably because he did not compromise on solely choosing Computer Science. Every #1 in the school from the past years either got into Cal or UCLA. I’m glad my son did not break that pattern.
