UCLA, Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill...

UCLA and Duke are my top choices. I need advice about how to get accepted and receive financial aid. Do you have any?
By the way, I am a A+ student with lots of extra curricular activities. Currently I am a sophomore and I am ranked #6 in my class. Also I have attended many summer camps and collected a great amount of volunteer hours.

Which state are you a resident of? Then I will tell you how high to aim on the SAT/ACT. Or whether you’ll get financial aid at all.

North Carolina

North Carolina

I am glad you are doing well (A+ level) in high school and that you’re thinking ahead. However, you’ve obviously only completed two (of eight) secondary school semesters. Therefore, detailed advice is likely premature. I urge your to continue working hard and, I hope, also having fun. Please consider re-posting this question – with significantly greater detail – perhaps at or toward the conclusion of your junior year. Most of the highly- and most-selective schools offer “need based” FA (often quite generous) and they are additionally “need blind.” This means your financial situation does not influence admissions decisions and grant assistance is directly tied to your ability to pay. Good luck!
