UCLA Engineering Admissions

I’m applying for Mechanical Engineering at UCLA for the Fall 2015 semester. However, I am scared that I may have a strong chance at admittance. Below are my current academic credentials. If possible, I would like some insight on my chances of admittance for the Mechanical Engineering Program.

Credentials:
Out-of-state, I go to a Career and Technical Academy, which is much more challenging than a public high school.
I am currently a high school junior, going to be a senior in 3 months after summer break

  • I major in the entertainment engineering program at my school.
  • Top 10% of my class
    -3.7 unweighted GPA
    -4.4 weighted GPA
    -3.84 UC GPA
-Straight A’s freshmen year, all year
-Total of 4 AP Classes, rest were honors. Going to take 4 AP classes in senior year
    -SAT cumulative: 1840
    -SAT Math: 600 -Writing: 680 -Reading: 560
-Will take ACT and SAT II(Math and Physics) later.

Extracurriculars/leadership:
-Vice president of school DECA Chapter 2013-2014, also a member for 3 years

  • Key Club member for 2 years, 120 hours of community service
  • SkillsUSA member for 2 years
  • Talent club, Judge, 2 years
  • School SAT club Tutor (Ironic because of my current SAT score…)
  • Volunteer at a hospital, 100 hours
  • Played Junior Varsity Volleyball for one year, will do Varsity next year.
  • Received President’s Academic Award in 8th grade (I don’t think this pertains, but it’s worth a try)
  • Study abroad program at UC Berkeley for Engineering during summer 2013

Since you are OOS, are you and your parents able to pay for UCLA at $55K/year?? There is very little financial aid available for OOS through the UC system. You have good STATs, so you have a decent chance of acceptance but are you able to afford it. I would first look in-state for some good colleges.

Please chance me!
