^I think I might know who you are

If you are so concerned with the rankings then go to Berkeley.

If you don’t finish in two years then you can petition for an extra semester. You should call the engineering undergrad advising office to double check if that is still true.

hey guys, I’m buying textbooks for next quarter and was just wondering if the textbooks for EE3 and CS32 are REALLY needed for the course. I took CS31 and pretty much never opened the book for reference (so I’m sorta guessing it’s gonna be the same case for CS32?). And since EE3 is just a 2 unit seminar with everybody saying it’s really easy, I was wondering if I can pass the class without buying that $80 “required” book.

there wasn’t a textbook for EE 3 when i took it, but you probably won’t need one. we were only required to fill out a survey since all they do is give a presentation each week.

It’s one thing to get an A in a class and say “I never used the textbook.” Then I might conclude the textbook is unnecessary. It’s another if you got a C and say “I never used the textbook.” Then I have no idea – maybe the textbook really wouldn’t have mattered, or maybe you would have done better if you had read it.

Those who give advice about the usefulness of the textbook, please let us know how you did in the class.

I’m pretty sure both BH and GrassBandit got A’s in ethics without much use of the textbook. I can also say the same.

Heck, I didn’t even go to class (8AM and attendance is “required”). I just used the slides that he posted online for the midterm and final and did my part on the final ethics report and ended up with an A.

You don’t need the book to get an A. As GrassBandit had posted, you may select the exam questions to answer, which only require your common sense to deliver an acceptable response. I read the book occasionally since it contained some interesting case studies regarding ethics which I did not know the technical details about. A few questions on the exam will ask you about your view of the case study, but again, you do not need to select those questions to respond if you do not wish to.

I only suggest buying the book if you want to read about the case studies (otherwise, don’t waste $20)

Wow I’m getting f’ed over here, has anyone else had an experience like this: Just checked my physics lab grade, got a B, but the problem is I got like 94+ on all the lab reports. I look on the online gradebook and one of my lab report grades wasn’t input so its like I’m missing 1 full lab report even though I did them all and got a grade back for them all, so I calculate that out and it results in a B with the “missed” lab report, instead of the A that I should have. So now I’m hoping that an email to the professor/ta will get this fixed asap but hopefully one of them will be able to do something and input my correct grade before this becomes final. Are they able to do that and how soon would their change take effect?

Has anyone had a grading error like this happen to them? Would I have to wait until next quarter for this to get fixed or what?

your grade will probably be shown as final on URSA since it’s automatic and all the offices are closed for the holidays. no big deal since professors can change your grade. a friend and i had our grades changed for an EE class.
