I am an electrical engineering (computer engineering option) student, and I’ve declared my technical breadth area in computer science. However, it seems that URSA wouldn’t let me enroll in CS 143 as my technical breadth course. This is the error message when I tried to enroll:

This primary and all secondaries have college and/or major restrictions which you do not meet. Consult the On-line Schedule of Classes or URSA OnLine Classes and Real-Time Enrollment Counts for details.

I thought I am able to select CS courses from 102 through 187 as my technical breadth. Can anyone explain what the problem is?

URSA doesn’t know anything about technical breadth (or any other engineering requirements). So you’re stuck behind people who are in the CS department.

Wait, if URSA doesn’t know anything about technical breadth, then how am I suppose to enroll in CS courses, such as CS 143, as technical breadth?

What are the odds that CS 180 will open up? Right now it has a capacity of 75 plus 5 on the waitlist, and it’s scheduled for a room with 92 seats.

And if I’m first on the waitlist for CS 143 can I be fairly sure that I’ll get in?

Is it possible to double major in CSE with physics, math or econ, and still finish in 4 years? I have credit for Math 31A/B, Econ 1&2, Eng Comp 3 and Physics 1A? Like I’m ready to take up summer sessions but I still wanna finish in 4 years.

Also, is this okay for my first quarter as a freshman?

CS 1
CS 31
Math 32A
Chem 20A
A fiat lux seminar (probably Econ or Physics)

You could double major and finish in 4 years, but first try to experience the engineering courses. You might realize that you don’t really need to double major. At the end of the 2nd year, you can think about double major. Your first quarter looks fine to me. Don’t underestimate the difficulties of CS/EE courses xP.

Can’t get into CS 35L. Want to take CS upper divs anyway winter quarter. How can I self learn the stuff needed for 111 and 131? (The upper divs I want to take)

If a class you want to enroll in is full or is keeping you out because of your major, be sure to let the student affairs office know by filling out the form at <a href=“Error Page”>Error Page;

They make no assurance you’ll get in, but it lets them know if there’s enough demand to try to add a new section or find a larger room or whatever they can sometimes do to get more people in.

Are EE1, Math 33A, and Math 32B required for EE10? Do I need to take these classes before I take EE10? I’ll be taking EE1, EE10, and Math 32B next fall. Thanks.

The requirements for EE10 are posted in schedule of classes/course descriptions. And yea, you actually need Math 33A and Math 33B(coreq) to do EE 10. EE1 is not required, but Physics 1B is.

It all depends on the department to assign instructors, there are times that you won’t even know your instructor until first day of classes.
Use [BruinWalk: Find what matters on and around the campus](http://www.bruinwalk.com/) and search for your instructors and read the student reviews.

What textbooks are needed for EE1 and EE10? Do different professors use different textbooks? I’m going to be having Joshi for EE1 and Razavi for EE10. Thanks.

But I don’t think the textbook listings are out yet. I’m not quite sure about Joshi, but I know Razavi have written quite a few EE books, and I used his Fundamentals of Microelectronics before (i forget if it was for EE10 or some other EE class taught by him).

Hi Grapesoda…
The following are my AP scores from my HS
Calc BC(5)
Physics B (5)
Chem (5)
Comp Sci A(5)
Bio (4)
Spanish(4)
Macro Econ(5)
SAT I Writing(800)
SAT I Math(770)

Can you tell me what all course credits I can get with the above scores? Also I am very confused by the GE classes that I should take. Can you tell me what GE classes I get get credit for with the above scores? Typically do students try to finish off all GE requirements in the first year of college? Is there a link to the GE course options that we can take?

Engineering students want to spread out the ge’s i think. We only need to take 5 and they are gpa boosters so we don’t want to take it all at once. I don’t think you can get any ge credits with ap scores, you don’t want to anyways. You would get units though for ap scores, assuming they are accepted. They go into depth with this during orientation.
