UCLA extension programs

Let me begin by stating my current status.
I am a community college student with a GPA of 3.4.
I am majoring in kinesiology and also taking classes to receive a certificate for audio engineering/recording, as I am very interested in music.

Now my entire time in college, my plan was to major in kinesiology, transfer to CSULB, get my Bachelors, and apply for the Physical Therapy program at CSULB.

However, I recently found out about UCLA’s extension certificate programs. I have always been interested in film score, and it turns out that UCLA has a certificate program for this. Now my problem is, UCLA does not have a kinesiology/physical therapy program.

However, I read that the extension programs do not have any special admission process. What exactly does that mean? Does that imply that I can still take these film scoring courses on the side while I attend a different school?

I guess the ultimate question is: In order to participate in the UCLA Film Scoring Certificate Program, do I have to be accepted into UCLA? or can I attend CSULB while at the same time taking the film score classes at UCLA?

UCLA Extension is an open enrollment institution - there is no formal admission process. If you wish to enroll into a course, you simply enroll online, in person, or over the phone (310.825.9971). The Certificate in Film Scoring at UCLA Extension does have 3 prerequisite courses. Students with prior college-level music training or equivalent can begin the program with the required film scoring courses (the prerequisites can be waived by either 1) submitting copies of your music degree or college transcripts, or, 2) submitting written sample scores and a CD for evaluation of harmony, notation, and orchestration – for further details on this process, please contact the Entertainment Studies Program at 310.825.9064). Students without this background, or those who wish to brush up on their skills, should begin with some or all of the pre-requisite courses. So yes, you can certainly enroll into UCLA Extension courses while attending another school! Thank you for your interest in our programs!

Thanks for the feedback! I actually contacted the extension program and was able to talk to somebody over the phone. Thanks anyways though!
