ECs: honestly nothing impressive did 300+ hours in high school, an officer of a club in high school, and volunteered once a week at a nearby clinic for less than a year
Essay: I wanted to emphasize my growth as a person and how as a high school student I wasn’t well prepared which was I got rejected from a lot of schools but now I’m more confident in my abilities to thrive. I also talked about the order in which I took my classes in cause I did my school requirements in the beginning and did my major courses altogether and I think maybe that’s what made me stand out cause the rigor of my courses was increasing but I maintained straight A’s.
For future applicants who don’t have a lot of personal intel to offer or lots of ECs its not the end of the world

I got rejected. I would be lying if I said I didn’t burst into tears. I put so much effort into this school. I guess it didn’t pay off. I’ll try to appeal, but I doubt anything would happen. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

@jjang25 unfortunately, no. They know some people won’t accept the request every year, so they admit more than they can actually enroll. However, they do estimate that a bit more people will enroll than will feasibly enroll and therefore admit conservatively. They use waitlisted applicants to fill the gap between their actual class size they could have and those that enroll

Essays: wrote about being a domestic violence advocate, researching and presenting at the CA honors symposium, and choosing to stay home as a caregiver for my mom and go to community college.
Honestly, I’m a little surprised about not getting in. I thought TAP would help me out a little more than it did. Oh well! Congratulations to those accepted!!
