UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@ohhsench You sound very bitter.

ACCEPTED
Major: Psychobiology
GPA: 3.61
CCC
TAP: Certified
Pre-reqs: 2 In Progress
IGETC: Completed
TAG: UCSB (Accepted)

@Pastry12 I wish UCLA would do the same! That sounds so nice. I’ll be at UCB for transfer day on the 4th if you do come here ? The weather has been nice lately so hopefully it lasts into May!

That’d be great if you could let me know!! I’m also really interested in studying abroad but worrying if it’d be tough as a transfer student. It’s really great having someone in the same major / same field of interests here! If you’re not able to make it to UCB I’d also be happy to let you know anything I can find out about our major!

I can so see myself losing like $500 in deposits because of this waitlist lmao

congrats to everyone that got accepted!

@JakeRice40
Did you ever end up calling Cal? What did they say?

This is crazy, I got in waitlist, I finished all my major classes include differential equation, and only got 2 B from ESL class. 3.88 GPA for math economics on the waitlist…

@biscuit4reggie congratulations to your son! I just now saw you posted his acceptance yesterday. Which of his great choices is he leaning towards?

Hang in there!!! I went through this 2 years ago after graduating from HS so I can empathize how tough it is. This whole UC admissions thing really can be wacko sometime. Good luck to you going forward where ever you end up at!!!

@HarleyTheQuinn
I want to congratulate ALL OF YOU who got in! You deserve it greatly. I wish you all the luck. And to those who also got rejected. It’s going to be okay! Just know that whichever university we attend, we’ll make the darn BEST out of it. Who knows, maybe we can apply to UCLA for grad school! :slight_smile:

It was nice being with y’all throughout these months <3

@waitlisted2019 what were your stats and EC?

@lilii99 I was having that problem for a while yesterday too. I just kept logging in, and it eventually updated. If yours doesn’t, then I’d suggest giving the Financial Aid Office a call

@butterflyclip Oh I just saw this! Thank you so much, congrats to you as well!! :heart: Seriously a dream come true haha.

Good morning everyone! How trash/well did we sleep last night? Lmaooo

Congratulations to everyone here regardless of what we’ve gotten back from UCLA. We’re about to transfer somewhere! Lol

I was waitlisted but I’m all good lol

When is Regents coming out?

@katyamzz the deadline to apply is tomorrow and I think it’s about 2 weeks from then going by last year’s thread.

Admitted!

Major: Anthropology
School: Pasadena City College
GPA: 3.63
IGETC: Completed
Pre-reqs: Missing one!!! Thought that would result in an immediate rejection so I’m shooketh
Essays: Apparently pretty good! Well written but not particularly exciting.
ECs: Not many! Really just went to CC and work every day.
Work experience: Worked full time as a receptionist, nothing special.
TAG: UCSB
Admitted: UC Berkeley (Spring 2020 tho), UCLA, UCSB, Cal State LA
Pending: UCSD
Rejected: SDSU (lol)

Having a really difficult time deciding. Was set on SB until I very unexpectedly got into both Cal and UCLA! I don’t know if it would be better to go to Cal in the spring or UCLA in the fall since I’ve already taken 3 years at CC. Someone tell me what to do with my life pls and thanks!!!

For anyone reading this in the future, you don’t have to do the Absolute Most to be admitted to great schools. My life story isn’t particularly spectacular on paper, but I just wrote my truth on my apps and that clearly resounded. Additionally, the GPA of my first semester was a 2.7, so I’ve really grinded to bring it up to a 3.6, which is still on the lower spectrum for UCLA and Cal.

It can be really disheartening to read all of these posts that are from students with 4.0’s and 10,000 EC’s (respect tho), so much so that I felt dumb for even applying. But hopefully my admission can be a testament to just shooting your shot :slight_smile: !

Posted earlier but forgot to include important parts, here it is for next year’s applicants.

GPA: 4.0
Major: CSE
Non-traditional, first generation, spent several years homeless from age 12-15, high school dropout at 15, HS diploma attained at 26

EC’s: Physics Club Secretary, CS Club Council Member, paid Physics tutor at my CC

Work: 11 years as lead technician for a rather low tech company, accepted NASA JPL internship this summer

Community stuff: Gave a speech to board of education for my Adult School which assisted their cause in seeking additional state funding

Essays: Quite good I would say. Got feedback from tons of people who I respect. I didn’t take their words verbatim though, I always took their ideas and wrote it in my own words. I feel that is more sincere and probably flows better.

Regents Scholarship: received invitation about a week prior to decisions, applying tomorrow and will update when they make decisions.

Jack Kent Cooke semifinalist.

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI
Accepted: UCLA
Rejected: UCB
Pending: UCI, UCSD

@8CLAP4SUP congrats on your acceptance!

Thanks for the kind words. You were one of the calm ones ! ? Joking aside, I enjoyed interacting with all you impatient, hair-pulling out fanatics. I was there once myself.

@HarleyTheQuinn It’s okay girl! UCLA is just one school and no school can guarantee a happy life or make your dreams come true. :slight_smile: Where do you think you will be attending?

Does anyone have the stat from last year’s waitlist? I’m just curious how many people actually did get off the waitlist.

^^i am wondering the same, i just need to hear back from ucsd and the ucla waitlist.
