@americajm @Bibihcmvn Did you guys SIR before submitting the change? That wouldnt mean anything to them when looking at the change right?
Also, I talked to a UCLA rep at my school yesterday, and she says that schedule changes should process a bit quicker then the full time listed, she said it will be around 10 days since its early.
@bananahrr for my Regents application I pretty much copy pasted the majority of the information from my UC app, I thought I read somewhere it was a different committee than the admissions officers. I’m gonna do the same for the alumni scholarship application too lol. What do they expect from us with a week’s notice (for Regents anyway)?
@mpineda3247 I have yet to SIR. One of my friends is currently attending ucla and he said that one of his closer friends at ucla dropped courses that were not significant towards transferring and he was fine. Im hoping thats the case for me
@orinji not trying to worry you, but I had the same exact thought, so I asked a bunch of people who have won it. While the Regents committee is different than admissions, they still have a complete view of your full UC app as well as your Regents essay. I would suggest not doing the same for Alumni, since they will also have your full UC app.
Edit: I meant for the essays. I basically copy/pasted all of my EC’s from the UC app as well, since that’s literally exactly the same lol
Also, regarding admission cancellation
I am on the fence of earning a C in a major pre req and am worried my admission will be rescinded.
Background- Cumulative GPA is 3.83, with no other C’s on my transcript. Will earn A’s in all other courses this semester which include two other major pre reqs. Term gpa will be 3.41 which will drop my overall gpa to a 3.75.
Will this drop in gpa result in the cancellation of my admission?
Anyone from the Bay Area going to Bruin Day?
@uclaletmeinpls oh yeah I meant for extracurriculars! My essay was new, but my extracurriculars and awards haven’t changed too much since November so I copy pasted most of that information. That’s really good information to have though, thank you so much for sharing
@americajm oh I see…I’m sure it’s fine then especially if Cal doesn’t have an issue with it??.
@juicyv me!
What’s up Bruin fam. Did anyone get the email for the alumni scholarship? Does every admitted student receive this opportunity?
@8CLAP4SUP if it’s the same as Berkeley, you can apply even if you didn’t get the email.
@8CLAP4SUP the website does say you need a minimum 3.75 GPA but that seems to be the only limit.
I was reading through my contract and I just realized I changed two planned classes for my spring semester that I entered on my application. Neither one is for my major nor any other requirement. The credit amount I am taking is the same and I still have the same grades. I just let UCLA know via email. Am I in trouble?
Also I said in my Transfer Academic Update that I was going to take two summer classes at the CC I am at right now. These courses do not apply to my major nor other requirements. Instead, I might want to take classes at UCLA in order to start on the total number of units I need to graduate. Also, I think if I took the summer courses I listed I would be over the 80 unit transfer policy.
I am freaking out because I do not want my application rescinded. Would call but it’s Saturday.
@asd9876 highly unlikely they will care.
Accepted!!
Major: Physiological Science
Cumulative GPA: 3.82
All prerequisites complete including the “strongly recommended” second semester of OChem and One year of Calculus based Physics.
IGETC complete
TAP not offered at my CC
Any other physiology majors out there?
@Ohm888 @orinji Thanks guys. I received the email the day after decisions came out. I just started it last night.
@8CLAP4SUP I received the Alumni email on Thursday. You can still apply even if you didn’t receive the invite, but from what I’ve read its a lot harder to get if you didn’t get invited. You can google “UCLA alumni scholarship reddit” if you want to read more about it
Hey guys, I’m just wondering if getting a C in one of your major preparatory courses is likely that you’ll get rescinded. I got accepted to UCLA and currently taking differential equations for my major prep. According to the Admission Contract, it says that I have to report any C grades in major prep courses. I’m worried that I might get a C in the worst-case scenario for differential eqs class. But on assist.org, it’s said for my major that students have to take at least a full series of calculus and EITHER linear algebra OR differential equations prior to transfer. I’m not sure if they mean either linear algebra or differential eqs is good enough for major prep courses or they want both. So let’s say if I ended up getting a B or higher in linear algebra and a C in differential equations by the end of spring term, would it still mean I might be be rescinded??
can u apply for the alumni scholarship if u haven’t sir’ed yet? i did get an invitation.
ALSO do u guys think it would be too late to sir after transfer day (may 11) and get all the tasks done by june 1st? i want to visit both cal and ucla before making a decision but i also don’t want to risk not making the deadline for either schools… PLEASE HELP!!!
Is it okay we use a previous essay we wrote for one of the alumni scholarship essays? Is there such thing as “self-plagiarism”?
