@Bibihcmvn i went to both uci and ucla’s campus last year, and i felt like the vibe at uci was very dull. I would definitely prefer attending ucla over uci. But i’m worried that my decision might affect my chances of getting a job because of how competitive ucla can be in terms of maintaining a high GPA. Why did you get rescind? If you don’t mind me asking
hey what’s the name of the Facebook/Instagram where they’re gonna be doing the live?
@theScreen Search up UCLA Transfer Student Center on fb
@zk00 I do not think that UCLA will rescind my admission, but I never want to underestimate any issue.
Because I planned to go to Irvine, as I hate the traffic in LA even though I love UCLA campus much more than UCI campus, I asked UCI counselor to drop the class I do not need - UCI does not require IGETC. I supposed to spend more time on my citizenship application, researching more information related to the class schedule, professors, etc… I hesitated to drop just because I still wanted to hear from UCLA (then I still have more than 24 hours to drop) until the night my husband was missing (I did report to the police). I eventually dropped the class since I worried that he might have suicidal thought as a few years ago and then I will forget to drop the class and get Failing Grade.
Now UCLA accepted me, and I have to report that change. I have no idea if it may affect my admission. But based on their website of Policy for a Transfer student, they do not require IGETC and even suggests the tip that student can take a course in the summer prior transfer to fulfill IGETC. I do tell them about my husband problem (in my UC application I believe they got my family circumstance already). I think I will be ok, but I still want to hear from them officially.
Good luck to everyone who completed a Regents application! I just submitted mine and I’m not feeling too great about my essay lol but we’ll see what happens.
@Bibihcmvn waw i’m sorry to heart that. Hope everything goes well with UCI. Wish you the best!
@bananahrr just submitted mine too! Kinda sucks that we only got a week, and honestly I didn’t start until Wednesday after I found out I got in lol. I think it came out well, but not nearly as polished as my UC essays. Did you get the Alumni invite too?
If anyone on here is going through the appeal process message me and lets share tips and advice.
My understanding is you do not need IGETC. I did not do it. Major prep and required classes + required transferable UC units are what is most important. Good luck though…

So I realized there’s no appeal thread yet. I made one just now. Those of you who got rejected and want to appeal, you can check the thread here:
Did anyone’s college get invited to attend the College Signing Day event with Michelle Obama at UCLA on May 1st?
I got invited since I was a TAP student. I feel like there’s no point in going since the event is about celebrating acceptance to UCLA lol. But then again, it’s Michelle frickin Obama who’s gonna be there. I’ll probably see some of you guys there
Maybe someone can give me some advice? I got accepted to UCLA as my alternate major but I don’t really want to complete that major as it’s kind of a useless degree. I got accepted to my other UCs with my major. My professors keep telling me to go and after the first semester try to change and lots of people I go to school with say they had friends who did that. Should I? I’m mostly nervous that I’ll be stuck with that degree, since no matter how great of a school UCLA is, I wouldn’t be able to get a job in the field I want with such a degree.
@bananahrr good luck to you as well. i’m not too sure about my essay either. i kinda tired too hard to be interesting in retrospect. because i thought everyone else will give boring answers. we will see how that works. i also only did volunteer work and no student gov/ leadership :(. so i think that will be against me.
@HarleyTheQuinn my school got invited to that too! Sadly I didnt fill out the form in time to participate though. I did see that you dont have to be going to UCLA to attend though, it is a general celebration of people signing SIRs to universities and making a celebration out of it.
@sugarcane1 I dropped the course prior to receiving my acceptance from ucla. The course i dropped was not a major pre req nor did it affect my IGETC certification. I reported it to UCLA the day decisions came out and I am waiting for a response.
(I reported the same change in schedule to Berkeley as soon as I got Accepted and received a response yesterday from them saying that my Acceptance will be sustained. So hopefully its the same case with UCLA.)
@Bibihcmvn thanks for the response! yeah i am just waiting for a response from them. I called admissions but they were not allowed to comment or give specific answers. I hope you get good news soon though!
@anthro101 In the ECs part of the Regents app, did you put down the same activities that you put on your UC application? I wasn’t sure what to do cause I’ve heard they have access to our UC apps.
@uclaletmeinpls Omg I didn’t start the essay until Thursday night LOLOL. What did you talk about in your essay? And yes, I got the Alumni invite as well! I’ll try to start on that one early hahaha.
All prereqs completed with 3.56 gpa. 4.0 major gpa. I’m a nontrad and have a strong upward grade trend. Maybe I have too many units. Is the waitlist pointless for me?
@bananahrr lol! I wrote about my interest in the REU and SPUR research programs, taking a math minor, competitive programming in the ACM club, and BruinCorps community service. Idk how likely it is I’ll be able to do all of those (probably not likely at all given Engineering majors require high units). And me too, I’m dreading doing 2 essays for Alumni ?
