UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Has anyone here reported academic changes? Usually how long does it take to hear back from them after reporting? Thanks in advance!

@PokeBear official transcript is from school (if electronically) or in a sealed envelope. So how you have it in PDF file?

@fattykirby I reported academic changes on April 24 and I did not hear back until Bruin Day which was May 11. Don’t quote me on this but I believe it takes them about 15 business days to respond. My situation is that I withdrew from a major prep course because of extenuating circumstances and they cleared me on the requirement.

I was admitted but with provisions that I get a b in stats. I’m likely going to fail the course or get a d or low c. The b is out of the question. This is the only course I have a problem with as I’ve got straight a’s in y other classes this semester. My cum gpa is 3.7 and I’m graduating with honors and was named the eops student of the year. This seriously is my only issue with school-math. How likely am i to lose my Admission? If I write them explaining myself would it help me out in any way? Should I just give up on UCLA and spend my time explaining to myself to the other schools I was admitted to?

Oh no. I won’t know my final grades until the 22nd. I might get a C in one of my major prep classes. If I reported on the 22nd, not sure if they would get back to me before June 1st so I’d still be able to SIR to the other schools @laurelru

Just wanted to put this out there, I was recommended to take University Studies 10D for transfer students. It should help bridge some of the gaps we face as we transition from CC to UCLA. Check it out here

I reported an academic change (withdrawal) on May 11, still yet to hear back. Hypothetically, it could take up to 15 working days as someone mentioned above, because that’s the amount of time they’ve set up for themselves. But according to the counselor that I spoke to, admissions tries to get to them as fast as they can depending on the amount of academic changes they receive. So in general, it could be anywhere between 1-15 working days. I’m just hoping it’s SOON lol

@bendestraw your admission will very likely be rescinded, sorry to say.

@bendestraw I think you should explain yourself as soon as possible. I’ve had friends in past application cycles get out of getting rescinded before after explaining their situation… it doesn’t guarantee that they will sustain your acceptance, but I don’t think waiting will do you any favors. Contact admissions ASAP.

I might be late to this, but I was wondering if any male transfers for Fall 2019 are looking for roommates on campus housing? Reply if you are, or reply if you know a good spot to look for a roommate. Ideally I am only looking for one roommate. Thanks everyone!

There should be a UCLA housing group on fb.

I submitted my transcripts for Fall and it says that it is pending and that they will need a final transcript by July 1. Does that mean that my transcript that is due June 1 went through? I just want to make sure what is due June 1 is in

GUYS I GOT OFF THE WAITLIST I CANT RN

@ishitak congrats!

What this tells us is whomever answered the phone in UCLA admissions saying they don’t start looking at waitlist until after SIR date was wrong. I wondered because in the past ppl have gotten off of waitlists before June 1. It just shows that you never know who’s answering the phone (possible student) or how much they really know about your particular concern.

Hey all, here is my stats wrap-up to make it easier for future applicants to find.

Current college: Community College (CA)

Major: Anthro & Environmental Policy

No SAT/ACT

College GPA: 4.0 (completed college honors, TAP for UCLA, IGETC, etc)

US/Intl: US (immigrant - dual citizenship)

ECs: PTK Pres, Published, Presented research, Non-Trad, Parent, State-level policy work, loads of volunteer work, UCLA CCCP, UCB TAP, UCB SPMP, very involved on my campus and in my community.

Applied for FA: Yes (Best FA Offers were from Berkeley, Brown, and Williams, worst were Cal State and UCLA)

Applied to: Cal State, UCSC, UCB, UCLA, Amherst, Brown, Swarthmore, Williams, Yale

Accepted: All except Swarthmore (Waitlisted)

Attending: 99% certain it’ll be Williams

Comments: I had my essays checked for grammar and clarity but resisted changes to content because I felt that it was more important that I represented myself accurately than that I changed what I focused on to fit within the box the transfer advisors expected. I felt that it was better to be rejected for who I am than accepted for someone I am not; this worked out well for me. I am in my mid-thirties with a teenage daughter, I immigrated to the US in my twenties, my husband and I are transferring together and got into all of the same colleges. I have a couple of decades of work experience outside of my field and have traveled extensively. I think that this breadth of experience contributed to our unexpected success across the various types of colleges to which we chose to apply.

Hey! are there are groups on facebook or somewhere else for admitted transfers??

@youceley I have the same thing. I called the admissions office and asked if there was a problem with my transcripts. They said no, and they just need more time to process them. If you have that message, you’re probably fine, but call admissions to be sure.

Anyone know when housing offers come out?

I’m planning to take a summer session at my cc.
Does anyone know where to report about this change in my summer schedule? I don’t think there’s any assigned advisor, where should I email these changes to?

Update: UCLA has responded to my changes I reported (C in a major prep course)
Admission still stands!
