@hych12 Last weekend I attended the Bay Area Eception of UCLA, the lady from Admission answered me that if the class I dropped was not for my major, not pre-reqs, not for 60 transferable units, it will be ok because UCLA does not require IGETC.
@Lex7777777 I believe they said the 17th.
Does anyone know how hard it is to get into the honors program for UCLA?
My case officially got reviewed and my admission stands. They dont care about the class to fulfil IGETC, no requirement for that in summer.
I went, with my son, to a presentation on the honors program, today at bruin day. If you are TAP certified, you can get in based on that. Otherwise, you need to have I believe a 3.75 to apply (I am not sure of that process). There was also a process for students to apply after completing a certain # of credits at UCLA (I am sorry I do not have the details. I was very impressed with the presentation. Great direction and great counselor. They also had a student honor ambassador speak. Their website should also have information.
Hello,
Can anyone clarify with me about things regarding when/how we should send our transcripts?
Well, I haven’t made my decision yet, so I wanna know if I should only send my transcripts to the university that I’m eventually going to SIR to. Or is it okay to send the transcripts to every UC’s that I got accepted to and make my decision thereon?
Also, does our transcripts need to be delivered to them by 6/1 or will it be okay as long as we send the transcript by 6/1(but not necessarily delivered by then)?
One last question, do we also have to send them our highschool transcripts as well?
When do we have to send them the igetc certification form by? How do we get IGETC forms?
@Jiminlovee Yes, you can send your transcripts to all the UCs you got accepted to before you decide where to SIR. I don’t remember if they have to arrive by June 1st or just be sent by then. I think someone on cc said they could be sent by then (but you should check with admissions). If they ask for your high school transcripts, send them. (They might need it for the foreign language requirement.)
@Jiminlovee Only send to the UC to which you SIR. it should ideally be postmarked by June 1.
Just chiming in to say I talked to admissions during bruin day and (as someone already mentioned) they said the transcript needs to be postmarked by June 1. Either way, they’re more relaxed about transcripts than the SIR deadline and if there are any issues, they’re very willing to work with you, they just stressed the importance of contacting them about it.
Thank you @avocadotoasts
I was rejected this year. I’m debating on whether I should attend UCSC, which I got accepted to, or just reapply this year to try to get into UCLA. Third time’s the charm right (including the time from high school)? Anyways, I really don’t know if I should or not. Any advice? Has anyone applied twice while attending a CC and got in the second time?
@studentransfer It’s not because I got accepted, then easily say this to you. But the school’s name cannot help you if you don’t have the talent to do the job. If you believe that you are a very talented one, you will make the school proud to announce your name as their student instead of letting their name drive your path.
Choose the school that does not have a bad reputation on your major. That’s all you should worry about.
@studentransfer It gets more competitive every year. Unless the reason you were rejected was due to missing major prep courses, I’d go to UCSC. I knew someone who stayed an extra year at cc to try to get into UC Berkeley but was rejected both times. You could also appeal.
@studentransfer - Go to UCSC. Even if you were rejected because you were missing some prereqs, you still may not get into UCLA if you apply again.
At this point, ALL UCs with the exception of Merced (and only because it’s young) are difficult to get into - and as @cloud7 stated, it’s only going to get more difficult. More and more parents and students will opt to avoid the outrageous expense of private schools (of which the vast majority are not as good as any of the UCs). I believe in 5 years, it will be almost as difficult to get into UCLA and Cal as a transfer as it is to get in as a freshman (UCLA and Cal’s transfer acceptance rate is already lower than the FRESHMAN acceptance rate at UMich!). Demographics will help drive this - this year Gen Z will pass the Millenials as the largest generational cohort ever.
UCSC is a GREAT school with one of the best looking academic settings in the country. Go to UCSC and enjoy yourself. You’ve earned it.
Hello! I am applying this fall and am planning on doing TAP. I know that the alternate major listed must be an L&S major, however UCLA excludes selective ones such as biology. Does this include molecular bio, neuroscience, etc? Or can someone apply under molecular bio and list microbiology as their alternate? Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated!
I can’t decide between UCLA and Chapman. Can i send a deposit to both and withdraw once I decide?
@gutenburg11 I myself applied this year as Biology for my main major and MCDB as my alternate major so it is possible to list another major in the life sciences as your alternate.
@Bruinlove2019 Thank you! Will do
Is it okay to send our transcripts as PDF?
I appreciate the replies!
