UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Waitlist thread

Ah I’m for all of you!! Congrats everyone who heard back

is anyone on this thread a history major who has been accepted yet?

Congrats! That’s really early! Hope I can hear back soon lol.

I am the history major and still waiting!!

History major and still waiting!

For the history majors, what are your stats if you don’t mind me asking!

Transfer gpa : 3.4 (i think???)
Cumulative gpa: 3.5 now
IGETC certified/done
All major reqs done
Applied : UCLA, UCSD, UCR, UCSB, UCSC, UCD, UCI
Accepted: all except UCLA(waitlisted)
Essays : pretty good
SIR’D to UCI, still waiting on UCLA decision.

English major still waiting >.<

I’m also a history major, non-TAP, and waiting. I assume most of us on the waitlist still are non-TAP applicants; most people I know (and have seen here on CC) that were admitted off the waitlist first were TAP applicants. I thereby predict us non-TAPs should hear back sometime soon, but only time will tell.

For those of you that got in, is there a mandatory orientation/advisory day? If someone doesn’t mind sharing the time and day? Much appreciated ?

@Putting I know you said “most of us” but I am a TAP applicant. Not sure why I was waitlisted but it could be for any number of reasons. Any Political Science majors on here?

@IBkidonthestreet I’m still waiting for my decision. Cell and Molecular Biology

@Bubblesparks Where did you SIR to? Do you mind telling me what your GPA is? I did to UCSD w 3.5.

I just remembered that you did to UCSD! We should share info and keep in contact.

Hey guys I got accepted to UCLA off the waitlist as a comparative literature major but I’m really conflicted about UCLA and UCI. First I thought maybe my parents would be against me going due to the distance but my mom seems on board to let me go. So I’m really conflicted right now lol

They are all great schools and at least in my case, the financial aid seems to be the same at each school with exception to some scholarships. My advice to you @surefineitsok it to look at the “extra stuff” the school offers you. that’s what my teacher told me and she’s right.

For example, as a bio major, I felt UCSD would suit me better than UCI because of all of the research opportunities that San Diego offers that are not explicitly for medicine students.

You will be there for two years, look into housing and whether that’s affordable for you. Look at professors and what opportunities your department offers. Also, look into extracurriculars. Is there a specific program or club that interests you at the school? How can you make the best of your two years? What resources are available to you as a transfer student?

I hope this helps

@FutureDoctor20 Did you write an additional essay? If you did, How many paragraphs did you write?
I’m just curious:) My major is the same as you.

@IBkidonthestreet

I SIRed to UCSD Sixth College as Cell and Molecular Biology Major. My GPA is 3.67.
Honors at college, Scholars, TAP certified, IGETC certified, and Associates Degree earned as well.

We should definitely keep in touch. What college are you in at SD?
I really want to be accepted into UCLA but I’m leaning more towards UCSD at this point.

@TatianaF i got in on the 4th, but in general i believe advising/orientation reservations for transfers open june 6th at 12pm ?

I am getting super nervous. Does anyone know how they are putting out the acceptances? Are they in an orderfor your major, or is it just random?
