UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

hi @mpineda3247 ! I was wondering the foreign language requirement works for the linguistics and computer science major for transfers?

do they require 2 years of a single language taken in cc, or could I have fulfilled that with high school classes?

hi! I just got off the waitlist today and was wondering how hard it is to switch majors once at UCLA? I’m in letter & sciences and wanna switch into another similar major in letters & sciences… I have all the prereqs done for that major too so I was wondering how I could/if I could do that

Email the department of the new major you want to get into & ask them for their requirements.

@PutMoreEffortIn Hey my major is Linguistics and Psych! in high school I took 1 semester of French level 5 but i didn’t mention that in the application cuz they don’t ask what classes u took in HS. But in cc I took 1 year of Spanish and I took 1 semester of French 103 and still got accepted (off the waitlist). I dont know if i answered your question, but just wanted to share that.

@cmonucla20 you didn’t say the major/s so there’s no way for us to know. If it’s impacted you might have trouble. Contact the dept and ask them.

I got in as Anthropology major but want to switch to psychobiology! I will contact the dept, thank you.

No problem - you’re welcome!

hello! did you end up getting into UCLA

We would need to know who you’re referring to in order to answer your question.

Instead of clicking “reply” on the post you’re wanting to answer, click “quote” and that will tell us who you’re referring to so that person can answer you.

Hey guys UCLA received my transcript! But idk how to check it from myucla. does anyone know?

Also what kind of official transcript did u guys send? pdf or hard copy?

hey so this might be a bit unique but do any of you know whether or not reclaiming you’re intent to register after declining admission is possible? i originally accepted my offer of admission and paid the registration fee but later declined in favor of a private school. now, the private school changed their financial aid package due to COVID and ucla would financially be the much better fit. has there been any precedent in terms of being able to reclaim enrollement? @Ohm888 as a forum champion do you know or know of anybody with this information.

@subwooferlullaby you passed the deadline to register but I do know in rare cases they take people in after the deadline. I don’t any details more than that. You should contact them right away and discuss the financial setback. Good luck!

To send IGETC certification to UCLA we just have to send our transcript from our CCC with the notation that says we completed IGETC right? Or is there a completely different form/record that needs to be sent?

There’s another form. You can find it online on your CCC’s website and submit it.

You need to request certification from your community college thru their admissions by filling out their IGETC form & signing it.

There’s a deadline for IGETC to be received by UCLA so you need to get on it.

You need to request a certification from your community college admissions by filling out their IGETC form on their website, signing it, scanning it & emailing it to them.

There is a deadline for UCLA to receive your IGETC so you better get on it.

Roommate Search
Hey guys!
I decided to go to Pepperdine but my friend and I are getting an apartment in Santa Monica (short lease) from August through November. My friend is paying about half for his own room, but I am looking for someone to share a room and split the cost with. You would pay $950/month, utilities included, fully furnished, and a $1,166 security deposit. I’m looking for someone pretty quick so message me or DM me on IG: Maxles1999 if interested! Thanks!

Hey everyone!
So I am currently extremely confused and worried as I’m sure most of us are haha. My issue is that I don’t know if I should continue being a biology major or change to a biochem major. I want to increase my chances of transferring to UCLA as much as I possibly can. I will be doing TAP but my gpa is a 3.47. The average gpa that got accepted to UCLA was a 3.72 at 17% as a bio major, while for biochem it was 3.82 and 48% got accepted. However the average gpa for a bio major that applied was 3.27 and for a biochem major it was 3.4. What do you all think? Or do I have extremely low chance for both majors. Thanks!

@princeofall12345 Well, under normal conditions your GPA would be a setback. You are doing TAP but keep in mind TAP is not a guarantee. You would be best served to ask an actual UCLA rep about your legitimate chances and go from there. We can’t guide you.
