UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

@supertrooper09 In the past, a D almost always meant a rescind, but things are different this round as things are so topsy-turvy and stressful. Contact them ASAP. There’s more than a good chance they will be lenient.

hey so I am a PRE business economics major and so i looked online at the course catalog and it said that

“Transfer students are required to take Economics 41 at UCLA rather than prior to transfer.”

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN because I am panicking… does that mean i have to do that before i start in the fall and take classes in the summer?

What do I do? please help.
@Ohm888 - if you can help too thank you :disappointed:

@Ohm888 doesn’t know anything.
When she doesn’t know something, she just makes up the answer & spins it as matter-of-fact.

She likes to pretend to be speaking from authority or experience… but she has neither! Which is why she’s still playing on College Confidential years after her college days are over.

She doesn’t cite her source to back up her answers. She just spews conjecture.

Moving on - No, you don’t have to take Econ 41 before starting in Fall. You take Econ 41 in the Fall or any semester after Fall. Just keep in mind that it might be a prerequisite for other UCLA courses so taking it in Fall would be best.

@heyigotnoclue what that means is you are pre- status, because the UC has a pre-req for the major that can only be taken at the UC. You need to take it fall term and then you can declare the major after you take it. They often have a minimum grade requirement. It will say on the Econ website if there are grade requirements.

Hi! I’m an admitted transfer student and I just have a couple of questions. This is really obnoxious but I’m just paranoid. I had a 4.0 but this semester I got one B in a non major prereq course (it’s an igetc requirement). Should I report that as a significant drop in gpa? Also, UCLA said to contact them if you want to report any “non academic changes.” I left my paid retail job 2 months ago and I haven’t been able to do my volunteer job because of coronavirus. Should I report those changes or is that unnecessary?

@hks837 You don’t have to report a B. I know the generic wording implies fire and brimstone but it’s mainly aimed at a significant drop.

Also you don’t need to tell them you lost/quit your job, etc. Under any circumstances, it’s not relevant — life has its ups and downs — but even more so in this time frame.

@Ohm888 - thank you so much and can i message u with a private issue that i have for my application? thank you.

@heyigotnoclue sure.

I think you’re comment was directed at me? If so send me a DM of whatever questions you may have

@Herbidot Hi yes! Sorry this was my first comment after finally making an account. I’ll DM you right now!

@Herbidot I can’t DM you. I believe I would need to be a junior member on CC.

so decent chance they can take back my admission if I get a D in an unrelated major course while still being above 60 units? If I drop, I’ll have 62 units left. uh oh. Its Calc 2 and I am a Poly Sci major. I took it assuming I was going to be a different major I will contact them soon :frowning:

I just finished Calc 2… I feel your pain.
It is just awful. Hahaaa

@peachstem go ahead and ask on here if. youd like, we don’t have to save space for others. Im willing to respond here.

I’m a bit late to the party but I want to say congrats to all of you who got in. For those who did not do not worry, you will complete your dreams at a another university.

For you Pre-History majors, if you have any questions, please ask. I am a graduate of UCLA in a degree in history. If you need tips on what professors to take and ones to avoid, do not hesitate to ask. Best of luck.

Note- I was among the transfer class of 2014.

Hi,

I was wondering if Parent & family orientation is mandatory?

I got the time wrong and signed up for orientation later than I would have liked to so my session is in early September. Does that mean I’ll have less opportunities or does it not matter when your orientation session is?

Anyone know which address to send IGETC cert to?

Does anyone know whether the library will be open during the summer?
