Hi everyone. I recently admitted to UCLA Chemistry major. I am transferring from a community college. My current GPA is about 3.6 . This is my last semester at college. I am extremely nervous right now because I think I am going to have a C in a preparatory class this semester. According to my contract that I have to report a change if I have any C (my first C) grades in major preparatory classes… I would like to seek some thoughts. Is there any chance my admission will be rescinded?
Thank you a lot for your help.
Hi everyone. This might be a stupid question but UCLA says to mail transcripts to their address and it also includes “Attn: Transcripts” in the address. I did not see this and put the attention as “transfer admissions”. Does it matter what I put the attention as?Should I resend my transcript with the attention as transcripts?
Yes, they might misplace it. It happened to someone I know. To be safe, I’d resend.
I didn’t put that but my transcripts were received. You will be okay
Double verify in your portal because as I said I know someone who sent it in, had receipt from fed ex or wherever that it arrived, but UCLA claimed they never got it and she was rescinded. Murphy’s Law. Don’t assume.
Consider all the paperwork they’re receiving.
Hey y’all! Did anyone get invited to apply to the UCLA Transfer Alliance Program Scholarship?? If so, can y’all pls msg me or DM me on IG so we can discuss how we should approach this haha
what up folks. I sent my transcripts electronically (my school uses credentials) and I received an email on the 11th that UCLA has received them, but my portal hasn’t been updated. Should I wait? call admissions? resend the transcripts via post? any one also in this position or know anything?
Also does anyone know if we can register for fall classes yet?
My boyfriend has finally SIRed to UCLA. He’s excited to be in the bioengineering program. Have any of you started a group chat or joined any facebook groups for housing or the transfer group?
Hey ! I got invited for the Tap scholarship, whats your ig ?
Hi! Does anyone know if the L&S Writing II Requirement is fulfilled by completing IGETC or by taking an English 102 class, or is it something that we have to take when we transfer at UCLA?
any Data Theory/applied math/math majors want to form a group chat?
@rodriguez0509 if you complete IGETC the two course English req is complete.
I wanted to do a write up for future lurkers, as my stats were probably in the bottom 10th or 5th percentile for psychology admits.
Keep in mind I am a nontraditional and had years in a career before going back to school so my essays and life experiences have been well rounded
ACCEPTED into Psychology BA
GPA - 3.55-3.6 (not sure what exactly tbh, as a I have units from several schools) (4.0 in all classes in last 3 years at CC including medical school prereqs) All major prereqs done and 4.0 in those
IGETC: Completed
EC’s:
-Two jobs throughout community college (serving and tutoring)
-Volunteer basketball coach and weight and conditioning coach for water polo team
-Volunteer at animal shelter
-Supplemental Instructor for physiology and chemistry
-In spare time love to dance and though I’ve never done classes or teach, I felt it wasn’t an important facet of my life
-Was a clinical wilderness guide at a rehab center for young adults prior to returning to school
-Backpacking and being a Wilderness First Responder
-Spartan racing and crossfit competitor
-Experience as a logistics manager prior to returning to school
Essays:
These are what got me into UCLA. Their 25th percentile for psychology last year is a 3.79…mine is a 3.55-3.6 all around. I am an English tutor and have always had a gift for writing and I was able to write about my experiences as a clinical wilderness guide and love for others (animals and humans) in an eloquent way that depicted my desire to be a physician and to use psychology as the foundation on which to build that dream.
Applied: UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCSC, UCD, and SDSU

Hi! I’m an aspiring biology transfer student for fall 2021. I was wondering if I could get in touch with you and/or your friends you mentioned in your comment. Thank you!
Hi everyone. I hope everyone is excited for UCLA in the fall. Although I will be attending USC in the fall, I was looking for advice for one of my friends who is in a dilemma.
One of my close friends got admitted to UCLA for International Development but was declared as Pre. He’s afraid that he will not be able to actually declare the major in case if he doesn’t receive a B or higher in some of the prereqs. His only backup option is declaring Sociology at UCLA, which he isn’t very fond of. He thought that he would not be able to get any sort of good business related-jobs such as Marketing or getting involved in the start-up space from reputable companies with a Sociology or even an International Development degree. However, he also got into UCSB for Econ/Accounting, and he’s been really considering it, just because it has an actual business-related background which would perhaps provide him a better opportunity on the job market. Would that status of UCLA really surpass all of the other potential “negatives” of not being in a business-related field? I let him know about the minors in accounting in entrepreneurship, but he’s still afraid. Of course, because of the deadline, he really has to make a decision… and fast.
Can any sociology or international development majors give any feedback on the situation? All opinions and feedback would be appreciated!
hey guys! I am a current transfer student majoring in psych. super excited to be attending ucla in the fall. i sent in my transcripts, and on myucla it says that they received my “preliminary transcripts” and need my final ones. does this show up for anyone else?
obviously we dont have to send final ones till july 1, but I am confused… did i satisfied the requirement for sending transcripts through fall 2019 that are due june 1?
i was going to call, but apparently they changed their hours today and I just missed them.
also here are my stats for anyone interested…
I had a 3.8 in hs and didn’t really have outstanding ec’s throughout. I applied to every UC school I wanted to go to and wasn’t surprised that I got rejected from all of them. I went to CC, worked hard to maintain a 4.0 and right away started volunteering and working.
GPA: 4.0
IGETC completed
All major prep courses completed
EC’s: worked two jobs where I had leadership roles, and also volunteered at an animal shelter for several years.
Essays: I tried to be very personal, worked on them for a couple weeks and got my family to read over them and give their advice but I didn’t get any help from outside resources.
if any of you guys have questions feel free to message me!
It sounds like they are referring to final terms one. They say they got the first round, right? At least that’s how I interpret it.
Hi! If my transcripts are taking a long time to send and will not be sent to UCLA by June 1, should I call them and let them know that it won’t arrive on time, or should I just wait for them to receive it (maybe in two weeks)?
@ jenniedeukie Hi! I was in the same boat a few days ago, my post is on page 122 of the thread lol. I waited the two weeks, and after not having any updates in my portal, I called admissions, and the lady who assisted me was able to check and confirm that my transcript was received: my portal was updated the next day. On the other hand, I, and probably you, just received an email from UCLA saying that they wouldn’t be punishing anyone for not meeting transcript deadlines due to COVID-19. So I wouldn’t be too worried. It might be worth it to just give them a call, if only for your peace of mind.
There is a good chance I will get a D in a transferable non-preequisate major while still being above 60 units. How much of an issue is this and can UCLA take back my acceptance?
