UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Only UCLA Admissions can answer that question since only Admissions will be the ones granting your request or not. Email Admissions asking them that same question. They usually get back to you in 1-3 days.

@lirrff sorry I can’t tell you. At the end of the day it will largely depend on whether cog sci is impacted (it may be but I’m not doing a search and can’t remember). Since both are in L&S you need to ask L&S and you can email them now or ask during orientation—which ever way they happen to handle orientation this year. (It’s typical that you will also need a go ahead from the cog sci dept.) Keep in mind missing a group of courses, if accepted, probably means an extra quarter and more tuition. So if you find out now that it’s a go, then you could take 1-2 in summer (with the UCLA’s permission) to get you up to speed.

@Dtrece Any idea why you were rejected by SLO? Seeing how you got into very good schools, it seems unlikely to not get into CPP and SLO.

@turi619 Yes, I got selected for the Regents Scholarship

UCLA started sending out emails to selected Regents Scholars and updated their financial aid packages wool!! Be sure to check y’all!! Just got mine wool!

HI guys! did you get any physical Acceptance packages from LA yet??? i havent received anything and i live in la

@heyigotnoclue I live in SoCal and received it in April. I’m not sure what happened there…

@heyigotnoclue I live in Colorado and I got my acceptance packet in the mail last week.

@brightplaces @leafygreens oh no imma call them or email - is it because I haven’t SIR Ed yet?

@heyigotnoclue I have not signed anything yet and am still waiting for decisions. I would assume not…perhaps it got sent to the wrong address.

@brightplaces ugh imma recheck sigh

Just SIR’d today! I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the official email address? I wanted to use the @ucla.edu one and should have selected it, but I didn’t. Sent an email asking about it but just checking if anyone here might know

Most of the menu features such as updating my preferred email were available to me once I enrolled for a summer course. I think maybe once you’re enrolled in a course, but that’s just my assumption haha

Hi, so before I got accepted into UCLA I would religiously read these stats, so here are mine. I hope they somehow help

Major: General Biology
Alternative Major: Chemistry
GPA: (3.84) At Time of Submission
Tap: None
IGETC: completed 2 semesters before applying
Major Prep: Everything completed
Applied To : UCD, UCI, UCSB, UCSD(Muir College), UCLA.
Accepted to: All
EC’s: Very Strong( all pertaining to my major) volunteer chemistry lab assistant, president/founder of a club, community service, involved in other clubs on campus as well.
Essays: Strong. I worked on my essays and had a UC rep read one of them, counselor also read my essays and he really guided me, and finally I had my classmates read them and give them their honest opinion. (8.5/10)

I just want to say that if you get into UCLA congrats you did it! If you did not get in, do not worry, do not fret! This does not define you and your efforts! You will do amazing things, and there is something better awaiting you. I say that full wholeheartedly that you will accomplish so much because you have the drive and courage to do so.

My advice as a fellow cc student is to get all your prerequisites done! UCLA rep told me there was a slim to no chance of me getting in if the pre-reqs were not met. Also, for my fellow biology majors the gpa UCLA is looking for is generally around a 3.8, but I have some friends that were admitted with a lower gpa so do not worry too much! Remember, biology is highly selective try to still have a competitive GPA nonetheless. I also got a B in organic chem and I thought my chances of getting in were gone, so don’t worry if you get a B.
Extra-curriculars! Get involved at your cc, this helps you not only build a strong resume but also network with your fellow classmates and professors:)
PIQ’s: Be you, be authentically you. They want to know who YOU are, you’re not just defined by your grades. Tell them your journey, your struggles, your victories, show them what makes you human. Have others read your essays! Do not be shy to ask for help. Also go to the UCLA rep seminars at your cc if available. They’ll help a great deal.

Finally! You’ve got this:)

I dont know if this was answered already, but if our transcript for coursework through fall 2019 is not received by UCLA until past June 1, is that okay? It is being processed rather slowly due to Covid-19.

If you figured anything out let me know! I’m in need of roommates.

I sent my transcript for my fall 2019 coursework about 3 weeks ago and UCLA barely received them, give admissions a call ASAP. If you have your final grades posted for spring 2020, I would send them now so there’s plenty of time before July 1st.

But definitely call:)

@hussey1 they’ve extended deadlines. It’s fine, but shoot them an email that it’s processing.

Hi everyone. I recently admitted to UCLA Chemistry major. I am transferring from a community college. My current GPA is about 3.6 . This is my last semester at college. I am extremely nervous right now because I think I am going to have a C in a preparatory class this semester. According to my contract that I have to report a change if I have any C (my first C) grades in major preparatory classes… I would like to seek some thoughts. Is there any chance my admission will be rescinded? :frowning: Thank you a lot for your help.
