UCLA Financial Aid for Rejected Student?

I got this message from UCLA asking me to check my financial status for the school. The thing is, I got rejected, though I am appealing the decision. Anyways, I went unto the website, was able to get a UCLA logon, and found out from the MyFAO website that I was getting $215 in aid. Does this mean that I’m likely to get accepted or does EVERYONE who submitted their FAFSA to UCLA, even if they were rejected by UCLA, get this message.

Below is an excerpt of the email I got. Help would be really appreciated!

"The Financial Aid Office has received your FAFSA application and
prepared an electronic Provisional Award Letter (ePAL) that estimates
your eligibility for financial aid for the upcoming academic year.
The ePAL is strictly an estimate and is subject to change.

You may access your ePAL along with
“The Guide to Understanding Your electronic Provisional Award Letter”
by visiting the Financial Aid Office homepage at www.fao.ucla.edu and
clicking on the MYFAO button.

You will need to log in using your UCLA Logon ID and password.
If you have not already created the above then you may do so at

I found this excerpt from the UCLA website at http://www.fao.ucla.edu/faqs_current.htm

IF YOU ARE AN ENTERING STUDENT FOR 07-08

If you are offered admission to UCLA for Fall 2007 and completed your FAFSA before March 2, the Financial Aid Office will generate an estimate of your eligibility for financial aid - electronic Provisional Award Letter (ePAL) -after your admission decision is released by the Admissions Office.

For entering freshmen, we will start generating ePALs at the end of March.

For transfer students, ePALs will be generated at the end of April.

Graduate students can expect their ePALs in early to mid-April.

Students who applied after March 2, should allow additional time for their estimates to be generated. If you anticipate that you will need to submit an appeal to the Financial Aid Office, please wait until you receive your ePAL before requesting an adjustment.

It doesn’t mention anything about rejected students receiving financial aid… maybe i got in?

it seems weird
but good luck anyway

I GOT IN ON APPEAL TOO!!! my counselour called and found out for me, but they haven’t updated my status online yet. in fact, they sent me financial aid and housing wayyyyyyyyy before they notified me, so i sort of already knew.

of course, i don’t know if i’m going. i’m still waiting to hear from other schools, but its nice tohave a good fallback now!
