So when I applied for financial aid with my parents, we didn’t put down UCLA because I didnt think that I would get in. Instead we put down 10 other schools I thought I would get into. When I log onto my UCLA Financial Aid page, they obviously dont have my information, so now what?

Log on to FAFSA and make the correction/change by adding UCLA as one of the schools receiving your SAR. You will have to delete at least one other schools in order to make space for UCLA. After you’ve made the change, your SAR will be updated and a copy of it will be automatically sent to UCLA financial aid office. Give it a couple days for processing and then check with the financial aid office to see if it’s been updated. You should do it ASAP.

Yeah I did it today! Do you know if my correction will make it less likely for me to get as much aid?

I think as long as you submitted your FAFSA before the March 2 deadline you should be OK. Don’t forget UCLA is supposed to have allocated some funds to newly accepted students who will not be coming to UCLA, so they should still be able to find you some money from the pool. You should call UCLA FAO (tel: 310-206-0400) next Monday to find out your financial aid status (too quick to call tomorrow because you want them to have your SAR when you call). Explain to them the reason why you didn’t put UCLA as one of the schools to receive your SAR (just like you did here). Take an active role in resolving this issue and you should be fine. Good luck.
