Are there places to eat near Schoenberg Hall that take Bruin cards? What can you do if you are nowhere near the dorms at mealtime?

operamom:

Schoenberg Hall is about 100 m away from LuValle Commons to the north, the Bombshelter to the south, and Ackerman Union to the west. All three buildings contain multiple restaurants that accept money stored on your Bruin Card. If I am nowhere near the dorms at mealtime, instead of going to the restaurants I usually just go hit the SEAS Cafe in Boelter Hall since I’m usually in the same building anyways…

Thank you, flopsy!

they take MONEY from BruinCards, but you can not use your meal plan swipes there if that’s what you mean.

SEAS cafe? where is this, flopsy?

Like I said, it’s in Boelter Hall…

 http://www.seas.ucla.edu/esuc/cafe_prices.html

And all this time I’ve been ripped off by those d*** vending machines!!!

Oh. That IS what I meant! So I have more questions. Is there any place close to Schoenberg, for example, that allows you to use your meal plan? If not, do experienced students reduce the meal plan because they find that they have to eat elsewhere? Is the deadline for reducing the meal plan after you find out where your classes are for the next quarter? Thanks for your answers!

nothing on campus uses meal plans except the dining halls, Brun Cafe, Puzzles, and Crossroads Cafe (aka the Residential Restaurants since they are all in the dorm area).

you can reduce your meal plan (i dont know the deadline), or you can eat before all your classes or after all your classes. Bruin Cafe and Rieber dining hall are open for extended lunch (2-5pm).

If you plan on eating lunch on campus but don’t want to foresake a meal from your meal plan, you can bring a sack lunch by going to any dining hall during breakfast hours with your Pepsi lunch bag and asking for a breakfast swipe as well as a lunch swipe. The register person will give you a special sandwich-sized Ziploc bag before letting you in – then you can go to the sandwich bar and make your own sandwich, and take potato chips, fruit etc. to put into the bag to take out for lunch… Anything goes.

i forgot about that bag…
