Sorry to interrupt all of you college confidential football expert analysts (as I’m sure you all had worthy resumes for ESPN), but Kip Smith is a red shirt freshman and this was the first game in his college career that he saw action.

Furthermore, Kai Forbath missed the first 2 kicks of his collegiate career. Big deal.

Lastly, who do you think “really” lost the game for UCLA? Kip Smith, missing the field goal and extra point? Or the defense, who gave up 34 points to Houston after Case Keenum raped UCLA in the butt?

Certainly the kicker deserves some blame, but don’t overlook that kick as the game changer. Blame Maiva’s failed snap that resulted in a 15 yard loss and a touchdown or even Brehaut’s inability to convert on a crucial 3rd down with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter or all the missed tackles. I’m sure my 3 year old niece could have skipped across the D-line untouched.

yeah I never said kicking was the main problem.
Its weird for me to say that our offense was actually better than our defense (not that it’s saying much)

Let’s revive this thread like the win yesterday revived my hopes (just a little bit).

I don’t think it should have been that close of a game with WSU. I know they are having a great season, but still, we were too sloppy for my taste.

And even though we won, any potential comeback for our team and my happiness went down the drain with Brehaut’s leg…

The difference between Brehaut and Prince is exaggerated. Prince has had some bad games coming back from injuries, but when he’s at full strength I think he actually is more effective than Brehaut. It doesn’t really matter now anyway. I just hope we don’t have to burn Hundley’s redshirt.

^I totally agree. It was pretty harsh of everyone to boo Prince when he came on the field. I know everyone was still thinking Texas would happen all over again, but I thought he did well yesterday - maybe better than Brehaut could have done?

What’s everyone’s predictions for the Cal game? I know it’s a bit off, but I am excited to see if we can roll with this momentum.
