UCLA for Fall Quarter, USC for Spring?

Hey Guys,
Well, I’ve been accepted to USC and UCLA. The only thing is that I’ve only been accepted to USC for Spring 2009, whereas for UCLA for Fall 2008.

First of all, my main goal is to become a CPA. Thus, USC’s Accounting School is definitely my first choice. However, I feel that by starting a semester behind( I’m not sure if USC goes by semesters or quarters?) I wouldn’t graduate on time.

Thus, I was wondering if it would be wise to go to UCLA as a Pre-Business Economics major for my first quarter and then go to USC starting Spring 2009?
Can I even do this, or does it seem rebellious because the two schools across town are quite rivals.

Please, if you can help, I’d appreciate it A LOT. Thanks again.

Where’d you SIR? You should probably call the USC admissions counselor and ask. It’s a clever plan, I’ll give you that.

My SIR is at UCLA. Plus, I already went to the Orientation for UCLA and I was even fortunate to get the classes that I wanted and needed.

If I call USC, would they be offended that I would rather go to their rival school for a quarter? I would be afraid that they might take back my acceptance.

Thanks.

they’re not going to reject your application based on hatred for UCLA. that’s just school spirit. if they reject you on that basis you can practically sue them. lol.

Well, if they do rescind me once I’ve done this, I’m getting the feeling that they won’t tell me that it was due to that basis.

I would definitely be surprised if the letter said “Since you were a Bruin for a Quarter, Go be a Bruin for life!” (Hahaha)

USC’s accounting is excellent, and taking intro classes at UCLA would be of little value. Take classes at a juco instead and save the $.

colleges wouldn’t be unprofessional like that. if anything (if they really do hate UCLA that much), they would try to persuade u to come to USC by giving u more benefits, not rejecting you.

jacobe91, You’re absolutely right. Since they did accept me, it would make sense that they would want me to attend their school. UCLA, hopefully wouldn’t be insulted, but they don’t have an Accounting major, just a minor.

Couldn’t you just go to USC, then to catch up, take classes in the summer?
I’m not sure if there’s such a thing, but just an idea if it’s possible.
But anyways, what’s wrong with UCLA? Their programs not up to par with USC’s?

UCLA’s Accounting Minor is quite impressive, the program itself and the university is great. However, the keyword is “minor.”
USC has their own school of Accounting, which definitely ranks impressively.

I would go to a Junior College, yet I’ve already completed all my pre-requisites and have nothing else to take. In my opinion, I would want to take the Fall at UCLA because it would allow me to cast away the aspect of choosing between the two schools by visualizing myself on campus verses actually being there for a quarter. Although I already have visited both campuses and can visualize myself there, people and perceptions do change after time.

Like I’ve said, my main goal is to be a CPA, and I think that USC’s Accounting School will prepare me far beyond what UCLA will do. However, after submitting my SIR for UCLA, going to Orientation as well as registering for classes already, it would seem like a waste of time to disregard UCLA all of a sudden and have no school during the Fall term of 2008.
