UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

My S24 has an admission decision in his email. Came in last night. Is it prob a rejection? I haven’t looked (since it’s not my place to do that). Thoughts?

He’s still asleep is reason he hasn’t looked…

Sorry — I was rooting for you folks who were still hanging in there! But you’ll have a great time at UCSD.

Hi Gumbymom,

My kid (UCLA student) was approached by someone from her high school, with questions about how a waitlist spot is affected by a gap year. She didn’t know the answer, and I would assume that you’d need to wait until the WL spot turned into an admission offer, but she wanted me to see whether CC had any wisdom. Sounds like maybe you have to accept for that cycle if they contact you…or reapply? Or is there a conditional kind of spot you can hold onto for the next cycle? Thanks and sorry for the complicated question.

Waitlisted students not admitted off the waitlist would need to reapply. If admitted off the waitlist and wants to take a Gap year then the student would need to work with admissions to see their options.

Is the UCLA freshman waitlist officially closed or are there still people on it?

I have seen several posts stating that UCLA has completed their Freshman selection and students received a rejection however some individuals have stated that they have not received any update on a decision so not sure what to think.

It appears that many UC’s this year have denied some students and have kept others on the waitlist probably in case of summer melt.

Since there has been no posted movement from the waitlist in the last several weeks, it appears it has closed.
