UCLA Global Medical Clubs

Hey everyone,

I had a question. I know that on campus, there are two big organizations (Global Medical Training and Global Medical Brigades) which make medical mission trips abroad to Central/South America. I want to go on one of those trips this December, but I’m having a hard time choosing which trip to go on (and I have to figure it out REALLY SOON).

So basically, I was wondering what the differences were between Global Medical Training and Global Medical Brigades (and even the differences between these clubs and GlobeMed, MEMO, etc.)? Do they do slightly different things when they’re abroad? Is one of those clubs more reputable?

I would like to know the differences btw these 2 clubs as well?

Global Medical Brigades is just a discipline of Global Brigades, the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. There’s also other disciplines such as Global Business Brigades, etc… Global Medical Training is it’s own thing. In terms of which one you want to do, you should go to informational meetings for both and talk to the officers and members about their experiences. Both are pretty similar, so it comes down to where exactly you want to go and the experience you want.
