Any prospective students going to sit in on classes?
I want to, but I’m wondering if anyone has done this and what exactly do you do… do you just go in and sit down? No need to check-in anymore or anything? And where would you park/is parking free?

Yep - just go in and sit down. Honestly, you could go sit in on pretty much any class in the larger lecture halls (no need to limit yourself to that list) - no one is going to notice, care, etc… welcome to college :)

hahahahahahahaha - oh man, thats a good one. Free parking at UCLA… ahhh that was good. :D

Seriously - you will pay through the nose to park at UCLA. I’m not sure what they’re charging these days, but I’m guessing its around $9 a day. Basically, you should drive up to the kiosk on Westwood Plaza and ask for a parking permit for Structure 6 (which is directly ahead from that kiosk). Structure 6 is located right next to Ackerman and is in a perfect spot for you to get to whatever building you need to get to.

It’s $9 to park at UCLA. If you want free parking there might be a few spots available west of campus where the apartments and frats are. You’d have to drive around to find one, though, and that could take some time.

^And risk getting front/rear ended by kids who can’t park.

I don’t think that’s ever happened to my family, and we’ve parked there many times.

You can also go to the UCLA podcast site to listen to classes. Some of them are locked, but some can be viewed/listened to by anyone.

Take the bus if you can. Also…lectures are lectures. There’s no real need to have a sit-in because each lecture and each professor are all different. If you must, sit-in on Scerri’s class…=)

@TheSortingHat

oh god…

are the lectures like in community college? how helpful are ucla lectures for the exams?

sit in on corbin’s class :smiley: scerri’s is fun too if there is a demo :)

Lectures aren’t like community college classes. Most of the lower division lectures have at least a couple hundred students enrolled.

Unless you plan on learning all the material in the class from the textbook, then yes I would say lectures are pretty important to go to.
