Hello All! So I currently live in Sacramento and will be attending UCLA next fall with my vehicle. I heard that parking your car on campus is almost impossible without proof of an off-campus job and what not, and also that it is very expensive. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I can do about parking or just more information on how the whole system works? This would be much appreciated ![]()
Cheers

as far as i know, as long as youâre not a freshman on regents, you can apply for parkingâŠalthough that doesnât guarantee you a spot. itâs pay-by-quarter. i live 15 miles from westwood, but if i do end up going to ucla iâm going to attempt to bring my baby with me for a least a quarter and see how it goes.

Itâs cheaper if you can apply for a carpool permit. Having two more people cuts the price in half! The problem is finding two people that are willing to submit their names/IDs under your car. But I donât think thatâs a biggie⊠Though I am still looking. I donât know much people who go to UCLA :

If someone DOES submit their names/ID under your car, would they be liable for anything that could possibly happen to your car (e.g. tickets, towing, etc)?

I donât think so. I mean, why would they be? The car is the driverâs responsibility.

They wouldnât be liable for tickets, towing, etc. but the key card is âresponsibleâ by all. If you are going to live in the dorms, parking is really going to be a *****. If you are getting an apartment off campus, use public transit to get to UCLAâthatâs probably the smartest.

Yeeeah Sacramentans goin to UCLA!

parking is on a points system. If you live far enough away you will qualify for a permit. You can get one for the year or each quarter. You park in whatever lot you get a pass for. It is expensive.

The rest you gotta look up⊠they probably change information every so often.

is it even useful to bring your car to UCLA if you are dorming on campus?

Ah thanks for all the info!
hahaha congrats framlove!!

useful? maybe. I live âlocallyâ and would like to have my own transportation so I donât have to bum everywhereâŠ

Well, itâs not a necessity, but itâs convenient. But even if you do get assigned a permit, I hear itâs near impossible to find parking at your lot :

donât people buy parking spots near campus for like $1000 a year? (e.g. on Craiglist)

^ Yeah. People will do anything. Some students even sell their UCLA permits online (eBay, Craigslist, FB) but jack up the prices like craaaazy
